Mishler Dear Milford Residents, I am delighted to have this opportunity to congratulate my hometown as it celebrates its sesquicentennial. Milford is 150 years strong and I have no doubt that our great great grandchildren will be celebrating Milford's 300th birthday. It makes me very proud to call Milford my hometown. I was born here and spent the first 18 years of my life as a resident of this wonderful community. Milford, though small, is a resilient and industrious community. The last 150 years has not been kind to small towns across the nation. Economic and agricultural crisis have left similar communities ghost towns, but Milford has weathered the downturns, and today is a town proud of its past, and confident of the future. The 1980's has been called the decade of the small town. Popular Hoosier rock star John Cougar Mellencamp wrote a > hit song called "Small Town." Mellencamp sings of his love for the southern Indiana area where he grew up, went to school, and where he lives today. This individual understands that the quality of life, community spirit and tra- „ ditional values held firm in his hometown are indeed precious. As Milford celbrates its Sesquicentennial during the summer months, my family and I look forward to being a part of the events and spirit of the occassion. Happy Birthday Milford! Warmest personal regards, Gregory E. Mishler State Representative GEM:esc
