'Run for the Health of if to be held May 17 at KCH

Runners, joggers and walkers from throughout north central Indiana will converge on Kosciusko Community Hospital Saturday, May 17, for the fourth annual “Run for the Health of It” and “Mile Walk for Fitness.” The events are held each year in conjunction with National Hospital Week, May 11-17. The 5-K (3.1 mile) run over paved city streets from the hospital to Pike Lake and return has repeatedly drawn runners who have praised the route and the organization of the annual event. the run, is held on hospital property. Entry forms for the event are available from many sporting goods outlets in the Warsaw and Kosciusko County area, and by mail from the hospital, sponsor of the run. Trophies will be presented to the overall men and women category winners, as well as to the first through third place finishers in each age division for men and women. Ribbons will be awarded to finishers in the mile walk. Age categories for men include

19 and under; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 4049; and 50 and over. Age categories for women are 18 and under; 19-29; 30-39; 4049; and 50 and over. Printed t-shirts will be presented to all entrants. The race will begin at 4 p.m., at the hospital on the north side of Warsaw, with the walk beginning at approximately 4:30 p.m. Entry forms may be obtained by writing Race Committee, Kosciusko Community Hospital, 2101 E. Dußois Drive, Warsaw, Ind. 46580. Deadline for preregistration is May 9.

Police to honor fellow officers

Syracuse Police will be seen around town with bla<& tape over their badges next Thursday, May 15, as they join several other policemen throughout the nation to honor those officers killed in the line of duty. Declared Police Memorial Day, services at the Counting House Bank in North Webster May 15 will begin at 1 p.m., with members of the VFW officiating. The memorial services will culminate activities during National Police Week, May 11-17, according to Syracuse Police Chief Robert Ziller. All acting and retired officers from the area are urged to attend the May 15 service. .
