Theology night out schedule

The challenge of having a happy, successful relationship with those close to us is something we all need help with from time to time. How to be a better friend, communicator and listener will be just part of the presentation, “Relationships,” by Ann and Tom Donahoo at the fifth annual St. Martin’s Theology Night Out. Young and not-so-young married couples will discover valuable insights for maintaining a healthy marriage by listening to Ann and Tom. The Donahoos are from the Office of Family Life in the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese. The pot-luck social event will be held on Tuesday, April 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the St. Martin de Porres parish hall in Syracuse. Tickets will be sold after all masses on April 12 and 13. Each person is asked to take his or her favorite pot-luck recipe-rolls, salad, vegetable or dessert. The parish will provide meat and beverages. Reserva-

For the birds

By DR. OSWALD HOFFMANN Lutheran Hour Speaker Jesus Christ had something to say about worry, something very important and very helpful if we are willing to listen to what He says: “Look at the birds flying around. They do not plant seeds, gather a harvest or put it in bams; yet your Father in heaven takes care of them. Aren’t you worth more than the birds? ” Some of that sounds terribly impractical to some people. It is “for the birds,” as they are accustomed to say. If I read His Busy weekend at Zion Chapel The singing group, “Vision,” from Syracuse, will provide special music in the 10 a.m. service at Zion Chapel United Brethren on Sunday, April 13. There will be a rummage sale and bake sale at the church from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, April 12-13. Zion Chapel Church is located at the intersection of the Syr/Web Road and CRIOOON, south of Syracuse.

message correctly, though, Jesus is saying to all of us, “Worry is really for the birds. Worry is really impractical.” Jesus talked about worry in terms that are human and even humorous. He never suggested that anybody should live a shiftless or reckless life. He told people to do their duty with the intelligence and energy God has given — and to leave the rest to God. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation. Psalm 91:14-16

Grace Belles to be at Win-Some Women

The 36th Win-Some Women Retreat will be held April 16-20, and will present a variety of musical packages —a change from previous retreats where only one soloist was featured. The Grace Belles, a Grace College handbell choir made up of 14 women under the direction of Ethel Anderson, will present music at both the midweek and weekend retreats. Formerly from Muskegon, Mich., she now resides in Warsaw with her husband, Jerry, and their children. Also featured musically will be Mark and Lori Danielson, a husband and wife team offering a unique blend of vocal and instrumental music. Their singing, accompanied by guitar and clarinet, has been widely and well received.
