Spring is just around the corner and it’s about that time to start thinking about having the carpet and upholstery steam cleaned — and Stanley Steemer is just around corner — in Leesburg. Al and Norma Hayes opened their business on June 15,1979. They are now centrally located in downtown Leesburg after originally starting the business in their home. “We just purchased the franchises for Nappanee and Goshen and the southern part of Elkhart County in addition to already covering Kosciusko County. “As far as we know, we are the only one in the area who has their own office. We can do up to 10-12 jobs a day or four-six total homes. An average day’s cleaning is about 4,500 square feet per day per truck,” Norma related. “We have two trucks. This doesn’t include other commercial work that we contract to do for restaurants and offices,” she added. “We do large area carpets, braided rugs, and orientals. We can pick up and deliver or you can bring your rug to the office and have it cleaned at a special rate which we call ‘shop cleaning rate’ — and for people that have hardwood floors, it gives them a chance to clean and wax the floors while their carpets are being cleaned. This is a two to three day service,” Mrs. Hayes explained. “Another service, which most people probably don’t realize we have, is cleaning cars, both exterior and interior. If you bring your car to us, it takes about IM hours to clean and wax it; if you also want the upholstery cleaned, it takes a day to allow time for it to dry properly. Most people make arrangements to bring the car in the morning and pick it up later in the day. We can clean the interior of the car at your home, but not the exterior,” Mrs. Hayes related.
