READY FOR EASTER — Alice Rinker, owner of Rinker’s Family Store for the past 35 years, displays some of the Easter items the store currently has in stock. Rinker’s, located on SR 13, North Webster, for the past 28 years, has developed a reputation for its versatility of products available and friendly customer service.
Rinker's Family Store provides for the customers
Serving customers from its present location for the past 20 years, Rinker’s Family Store, SR 13, North Webster, has developed a reputation for carrying many items which larger stores often don’t stock. “We often have people come in who say they’ve been all over Fort Wayne, Goshen, Warsaw and other larger cities and aren’t able to find many of the products we keep in stock; I’ve often heard the comment ‘I wish I’d came here first, you had what I wanted all along,”’ commented Alice Rinker, owner of the store since its inaugural inception in Anderson 36 years ago. “We add something new every year, always finding new ways to get it in,” Rinker said, adding, “We may not sell everything we stock but we believe you have to provide it for the customers.” That philosophy has led Rinker’s to a successful tenure, adding new customers to its already large number of “old customers.” “We let people roam the store, encouraging them to come in and spend time,” Rinker remarked. The store is currently preparing for the summer season, adding inflatables, tables, chairs and other summer goods to its full line of winter accessories. Other items included are men’s, women’s and children’s clothing and shoes, outdoor
Lake Tippecanoe Siding serves the area from two locations
Lake Tippecanoe Siding and Insulation Corp., North Webster and Oswego, has grown from a small beginning in 1969 to the area’s largest siding dealer. Robert Phillippe and his mother, Cora, are the owners of the business which started in the Phillippe home in Oswego. After adding on to the family garage/warehouse several times, it became necessary to build a new building. In 1974, a new office and warehouse was built on SR 13 South in North Webster. The Phillippes wanted to stay out of the larger towns, yet needed to be near a highway in an easy to reach location. • Lake Tippecanoe Siding specializes in residential work in the lakes area and works within a 50 mile radius. For the do-it-yourselfers and contractors, retail sales of siding, insulation and related products are available at very competitive prices. The family operated business has over 2,000 squares of siding in stock which consists of over 100 different colors and profiles. They have also expanded into a wide range of other products and services pertaining to the siding business.

supplies, sewing goods, and numerous other products. In a craft department recognized for its versatility, Karleen Richards, employee for the past 19 years, is prepared to assist customers with new, as well as old, craft kits. Patterns and material are available for: candlewicking with ribbon, counted cross stich, chicken scratch, quilting with VIP calico, stenciling, knitting and crocheting. McCall craft and dress patterns as well as instruction booklets compliment the wide variety of materials and DMC embroider floss. While the summer months brings several new customers to the area, Rinker reports that year-round business is “excellent.” However, the stores staff of six increases in excess of 15 during the tourist season. “We attract the customers for the same reason we have in the past 20 years, our service is good,” Rinker added. Touching on all of the “necessary products,” Rinker’s is able to accommodate its customers through a dealer organization in Chicago, which is able to deliver products to the northeastern Indiana store quickly. Rinker’s is currently open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and 11 a m. until 4 p.m. on Sundays. Extended summer hours will begin at the start of the summer season.
Some of the services Lake Tippecanoe Siding provides includes blown cellulose insulation, storm windows, storm doors, patio rooms, continuous guttering, and numerous other beneficial home improvements. All the estimating is done by Robert Phillippe and Randy Richcreek, manager. Tony Croy is the other office/warehouse employee and wears many different hats. There are also seven full-time crews for installing siding. A comparable low overhead has given the business its success along with offering reasonable prices. “We still answer our own phones and all owners actively participate in the business. We may not have a large office staff, but the work gets done and the overhead stays down,” related Phillippe. “We have thousands of satisfied customers in Kosciusko County,” Phillippe commented. He stated that, “It is something to be proud of, if you can stay in business 16 years, operating that long out of a small town.” Lake Tippecanoe Siding is open 8 a.m -5 p.m. weekdays and 8 a m.-noon on Saturdays at the North Webster location.
