Gropps in new location
Herschel Wells, owner and manager of Gropp’s Famous Fish of Stroh in Syracuse, is busy as always, but he sure smiles a lot since the restaurant operation was moved a short distance south on SRI3 into the former Windjammer building. “Our evening business has already doubled and our lunch trade has tripled since we moved,” states Wells. “I’m pleasantly surprised, but people do really like our new building and the expanded menu choices we have to offer.” The Famous Fish of Stroh recipe, developed by Millie Gropp, is still as great as always, and the menu items retained from the Windjammer Restaurant give a wide range of choices for the discriminating diner at Gropp r s. The restaurant can offer a delightfully decorated banquet and party room and bar facilities are in place. It has continued the well-stocked salad boat from the Windjammer which now has a soup bar included. The quality of food, service and atmosphere are all high at Gropp’s and yet the prices are still moderate. A children’s menu is also available for the youngsters. Gropp’s is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The restaurant has 25 employees including Wells, his wife, Charlotte, and his daughter, Pam. Plenty of blacktopped parking is available with easy access from SR 13. Wells already has an architect drawing up
