Laßues have 20 years of floral experience
A desire to do their own floral designing lead Sue Laßue, Leesburg, and her parents, Ron and Carol Larue, Warsaw, to own their own shop. The Laßues took over the ownership of The Flower Shop, North Webster, in August 1985, and have 20 years combined background experience in the floral business. The Flower Shop, located at the stop light on Main Street in North Webster, next to Rinker’s Department Store, has silk, dried and fresh floral arrangements as well as the same materials to make your own arrangements. Helium balloon bouquets, green plants and hanging baskets are also offered. Hospital and funeral arrangements are available and Miss Laßue remarked some gift items can be purchased to accompany various arrangements. For those businesses redecorating offices, The Flower Shop carries floor plants for those changing from artificial plants to live plants. Those special occasions needing special touches can be undertaken by the Laßues and for that extra special time in a woman’s life, The Flower Shop, has what may be needed for a wedding. The wedding bouquets and other needed arrangements will be designed especially for your wedding. In addition to the floral aspects, candelabrums and kneeling benches are available. Supplies for tole painting are handled by The Flower Shop. Services offered by The Flower Shop includes the Carik Wire Service, delivery of hospital arrangements to Kosciusko Community Hospital and Goshen Hospital, as well as to any location in a 25-mile radius. Another service available is for those wanting green plants in their homes, The Flower Shop will go into your home and look at the lighting area available to determine which plants will grow preferably in the area available. National Products is leader in lumber, plywood distribution
National Products, Inc., located at 203 Medusa St. in Syracuse, was purchased five short years ago from a company with 13 years experience. Under its current management, many changes have occurred to make National Products one of the leaders in the distribution of lumber and plywood products. The company specializes in the distribution of an extensive line of treated and untreated plywoods, treated and untreated lumber, paneling and raw imported panelings for the use in furniture and custom cabinetry work. Much of its imported products are purchased from the South Pacific and Indonesia. Complete milling processes enable National Products to custom cut its wood products to the exact specifications requested by its customers. Increasing the processing by as much as 65 percent, total sales in the past year have risen over 45 percent —a figure National Products will continually try to improve upon. By increasing its productivity, National Products has been able to diversify its product line as well as the clientele, which consists primarily of manufactures of mobile

sons home are also offered. A unique aspect of the store is their designing. Miss Laßue remarked they do their own creative designing in all arrangements. “We don’t buy predesigned items, we design each stem by itself.’’ Goals for the owners is to see the business expand. Miss Laßue remarked the expansion would include carrying mere gift items, more silk arrangements and silk merchandise plus expanding their wedding arrangements. “I enjoy doing weddings,’’ she commented. The other area of expansion is “We really want to pick up more business outside the North Webster area,” she stated, adding “we want people to realize we offer our services outside the area.” Miss Laßue stressed the support from persons in the SyracuseNorth Webster area as being fantastic. “We really appreciate the support from them.” The Flower Shop’s busy time is March through September, due to the increase population of the area. Os course the holiday season cannot be forgotten when arrangements are designed for Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day, just to name a few. Silk arrangements are popular selling items for the store, except when tradition calls for fresh flower arrangements. The big sale on silk floral items is attributed to people wanting to buy something to keep, stated Miss Laßue, who added this is especially true for arrangements being sent to the hospital. Miss Laßue, who manages the store, remarked in addition to herself and her parents, other family members help out with the business. “Everyone gets drafted,” she jokingly stated. The business does have a lady volunteer for making the deliveries. “We welcome any one who has never been to our business, to stop by,” invited Miss Laßue. The Flower Shop is opened Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during the winter, Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
home, boats, recreational vehicles, and van conversion specialists. National Products also does much of its business with retail home improvement centers. As well as serving much of the midwest, National Products has clients ranging from as far south as Florida and as far north as Wisconsin. One area which National Products hopes to expand is its brokerage service. Through the company’s ability to purchase top-of-the-line wood products from select mills, it can have the product delivered directly to the customer. In essence, as a broker National Products acts as a liaison between the manufacturer and the consumer. Although the brokerage service is fast growing, the company hopes to work on increasing the geographic area it serves. Another area National Products is hoping to develop is its handling of pre-finished paneling and raw hardwoods for custom craftsman. It is through these advancements and National Products ability to provide its customers with specialty products that it is fast becoming the leader of lumber and plywood products in the area.
