Jonathan J. Cousins joins
The Lake City Bank Board of Directors announced last April that Jonathan Cousins had been named assistant manager in the Milford and Syracuse office. He holds a bachelor of business degree, as well as an associate of arts degree, from Northwood Institute of Midland, Mich. The new Milford branch opened its doors on January 1,1984. Lake City Banks’ continuous 114 years of tradition in providing efficient, convenient financial services was reinforced with the opening of the third and fourth automated teller machines during 1985. One is located in Warsaw at 2100 East Center Street, the other at the Wabash office of Lake City Bank. To further that commitment of service, the lower level of the main Office was remodeled, allowing the trust department to move into expanded and more efficient space.
Hibschman Motors strives to give to best deals possible
With 25 years experience in the automobile business, Ron Hibschman, owner of Hibschman Motors, 731 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, strives to get customers the best deals possible, realizing how important a durable automobile is to people. Having moved to the present location in 1982, Hibschman Motors was previously located south of Syracuse for two years. Before beginning his Syracuse business Hibschman had been with Chevrolet for about 18 years, establishing himself as a proven salesman. Expanding inventory over the past few years, Hibschman attempts to keep 20 used cars on the lot at all times. “A large percentage of our cars come direct from new car dealerships, thus, we handle a lot of oneowner units,” Hibschman explained, accounting for the quality of used cars in his possession.

Early in the year, Lake City Bank became a principal card issuing member of VISA USA, Inc. and Mastercard International, Inc. All accounts are serviced locally, eliminating long distant telephone calls and payments are accepted at all Lake City Bank locations. Lakeland Mortgage Corp ,"a new wholly owned subsidiary of Lakeland Financial Corporation, which is the holding company that owns Lake City Bank, was formed in April of 1985. The Lakeland Mortgage Corp, offers a wide range of mortgage programs, including FHA, VA. graduated payment, fixed and adjustable rate conventional mortgage loans. The corporation has developed various sources for sales of these loans to assure local mortgage loan customers a wide and diversified choice in mortgage financing. These mortgage loans are made and qualified for sale into the secondary market.
Carriage-car rental is also provided daily by the business for the convenience of its customers. A recent addition to the business produced a “back shop,” which Hibschman uses for general maintenance and clean-up. Operating the business with his wife, Elaine, Hibschman has served a “steady” clientele. “We have a positive attitude toward this year as well, if interest rates hold on the downscale then all of the automobile businesses will experience an increase in business,” he predicted. A resident of the Syracuse area, r 4, Waco Drive, Hibschman is accustomed to quality service and is appreciative to all of the customers and patrons who have helped by giving him the chance to be of service to the area. In keeping with the businesses’ progress over the past four years, Hibschman noted that he was planning “further expansion” in the future.
Lake City Bank at Milford
Kenneth L. Rucker, who worked 13 years as the head of the mortgage loan department at Lake City Bank before joining the Federal National Mortgage Association in Chicago, returned to become president of Lakeland Mortgage Corp. The board of directors declared a three for one stock split as of the close of business on August 30, 1985. The board expressed hope that more stock would become available on the local market for purchase by both current and new investors, depositors, customers, and friends of Lake City Bank, Lakeland Mortgage Corp, and Lakeland Financial Corporation. In voting for this split, the board further strengthened the Lakeland Financial Corporation at a viable locally owned community financial service corporation. . Valentine party, Agriculture Appreciation Day, and three economic seminars. Robert G. Dederick, who recently served on the Reagan administration as Under Secretary of Commerce, spoke to a large group of business leaders from Wabash and Kosciusko Counties on “The Outlook of the Economy.” Indiana University’s Morton Marcus and Dr. Wayne Barthalomew, Dr. Fred Herschede, and Dr. John Peck were also featured during the year discussing, “The Business Financial Outlook.” Lake City Bank continues to meet a felt obligation to the citizens of Kosciusko and Wabash Counties to keep them as fully informed as possible in current economic events to enhance their future business decisions.
