Sugar N'Spice holds election Sugar N’ Spice Club members; met January 7 at the home of Judy Miniear with Janet Hollar as assistant hostess. Dorothy Beisemeyer was welcomed as a new member. Election of officers was held. The new officers are: Linda Doll, president; Mrs. Miniear, vice president; Becky Ertel, secretary; and Mrs. Hollar, treasurer. It was announced that the February meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Hollar on the 11th instead of the fourth. Those attending are asked to wear something “red.” In case of inclement weather, the meeting will be cancelled and members will be notified. Following the business session, games were played. Charm and Chatter Club entertains guests Marjorie Warner gave the flower fund report on Jani ary 6 when Charm and Chatter Club members met at the home of Helen Kline, club president. Dot Baumle served as assistant hostess. The meditation was read by Corrinne Staples. Guests present were Janet Kaiser and Denise Vanator. Roll call response was “hily favorite TV commercial.” The club and county constitutions were read by Mrs. Kline. Minutes of the December meeting were read by Colleen Bryant and Vergie Jerriggan gave the treasurer’s report. Laverne Clutter discussed cultural arts and Dorothy Snoke gave the health and safety lesson. Gardening tips were presented by Corrinne Staples. Mrs. Kline reported on the recent Presidents’ Council meeting held at Warsaw. Virginia Osburn received the door prize. Mrs. Jernigan will be hostess for the February meeting. NORTH WEBSTER firemen will host the Kosciusko County Firemen’s meeting on January 16 at the fire station. —o— A COWBOY, complete with boots, hat, brown jacket, and a bedroll, was seen riding through North Webster on horseback the morning of January 6. —o— I ‘ NORTH WEBSTER Winter Carnival will be held February 8 and 9. Headquarters will be at Dixie Haven Camp, Webster Lake. Booth space is still available. Anyone wishing to volunteer to help with carnival activities should call 834-7257. —O'REBEKAH CIRCLE members met January 9 at Wesley Hall. Home and Sport Show March 21-23 The fifth annual Kosciusko County Home and Sport Show, sponsored by the Greater Warsaw Chamber of Commerce, will be held at the National Guard Armory Friday, March 21, through Sunday, March 23. The show is designed for county-wide participation. There will be just under SI,OOO in door prizes awarded, and there will be no charge for either admission or parking. Refreshments will be available during show times. According to Deborah Wiggins of the chamber, booths are still available for interested businesses. She said 13 booths for the show have already been rented. Businesses renting a booth before January 31 will receive an “early bird” special price of S2OO per booth for chamber member firms and $225 for non member firms. After January 31, the prices will be $225 for chamber members and $250 for nonmember firms. Security will be provided after show hours as part of the booth rental fee. Members of the Home and Sport Show committee include: Sue Creighton, United Telephone; Clif Burritt, Wholesale Electric Service Co.; Al Hayes, Stanley Steemer; and Sondra Steele, chamber staff member.

It was announced that there are still some openings for the club trips to Honor, Mich., on January 16 through 19, and February 20 through 22. Anyone wishing to participate should call Carlos Williams. Proceeds from this year’s Winter Carnival will be donated to the North Webster Beach Fund. Dixie Haven Camp will be headquarters for registration and information about all carnival events. Booth spaces are still available. A limited number of tickets are available for the carnival dinnerdance and fundraising projects. They may be purchased from any Snowmobile Club members or call 834-7257. Refreshments were served by Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Packard. The next regular meeting is planned for February 4 at North Webster school cafeteria. Lakeland Snowmobile Club is a family organization. Guests and prospective members are always welcome. Homemakers to make donations Barbara Sponseller was hostess for the January 6 meeting of Pierceton Extension Homemakers. Helen Oxenrider reported on the December Presidents’ Council meeting. Roll call was answered by 15 members responding to “My favorite TV commercial.” Sandra Frush reported on the three Christmas baskets provided by the club for needy families. Esther Bryant and Doris Kubacki will provide refreshments for a party at the state school, Fort Wayne, on January 11. The group voted to make donations to the choral club, two 4-H groups and the Pierceton School enrichment programs. It was noted that Mrs. Sponseller, Helen Crouch, and Margaret Wolter volunteered to assist with the Gasoline Alley project at Warsaw. Irene Waltke suggested using nylon screening instead of plastic under garden mulch. Esther English told how to deal with colds and flu. Mrs.

Kubacki gave the citizenship report about civil defense. Mrs. Wolter reported on the musical, “Home For The Holidays’; which was presented at Fort Wayne recently. Beckie Menzie, daughter of club member, Ruth Menzie, served as voice coach, director, and conducted the orchestra for the production. The lesson, “Granny’s method for making bread, pies, and noodles,” was given by Mrs. Kubacki. Refreshments of three layer chocolate cake, nuts, and candy were served by Mrs. Sponseller and the assistant hostess, Betty Rose Stahl. Mrs. Frush will be hostess for the February meeting. Senior Citizens meet January 8 North Webster Senior Citizens met January 8 in the fellowship room at North Webster Church of God with 27 persons present., Members of the planning committee were Eldonna Warren, chairman, Marge Hickman, Mary Jo Lundy, Judy Sparks, Sue Hickman, and Lois Conkling. Mrs. Conkling led in prayer before the carry-in dinner was served at noon. Penny Hollis, new chair person for the Senior Citizens, announced that Diane Brown would be chairman for the February meeting. Games were played pertaining to the new year. Sue Hickman gave the meditation, reading from I Corinthians 5:17. Dorothy Snoke gave the closing prayer. There was group singing of Sunday school songs with accompaniment on musical instruments provided by Kyle Lundy while he played drums. Predictions written by the Senior Citizens in January of 1985 were opened and read. New predictions for 1986 were written and sealed in an envelope. They will be opened and read in January 1987. Blanche Kline, who now resides at a local nursing home, is a charter member of the club. Alberta Urban was a guest. Refreshments of cheese ball, cold cuts, crackers, cranberry dessert, and cinnamon tea were served by the hostess. Friends of The Library to revise list Friends of the Library met January 8 at the library building with Betty Hinton serving as secretary pro tern. Dean McFadden, librarian, asked for suggested book titles to be purchased. It was announced that the membership list is to be revised. Plans were discussed, but not finalized, concerning working with the Kiwanis Club at the Winter Carnival chili supper. Some plans were also discussed
for a bake sale during the Memorial Day weekend. Any funds raised by the FOL, go to support the library. Christmas decorations at the library were provided by Helen Wicher. Refreshments for the meeting we re provided by Debra McFadden. Secbrist Sixty Five to have dinner party Julia Badskey was hostess for the January 8 meeting of Seclirist Sixty Five Club. Group singing was led by Marian Breyer. The lesson, “Communicating With Teenagers,” was presented by Janet Allen. Mrs. Allen also gave a history of the Wagon Wheel Playhouse. A reading about creativity was given by Mrs. Breyer. Norma Boyer reported on program plan ning for 19f6-1987. Rhonda Brown told of 10 ways to fight fatigue. charge of planning the event. Debbie Schalow was welcomed as a new member. Refreshments of ice cream sundaes were served by Mrs. Badskey. New officers installed by Auxiliary New officers were installed on January 6 when North Webster Firemen Ladies Auxiliary met at the fire station. The new officers are: Sue Mitchell, president; Diana Bowman,- vice president; Lavern Sturgill, secretary; and Dixie Likens, treasurer. Willie Duncan, retiring president, was installing officer. Time was spent planning a calendar of events for the coming year. A garage sale is scheduled for this summer. Donations for the sale will be accepted. It was announced that the auxiliary will be serving refreshments at the county firemen’s meeting being held at North Webster on January 16. Plans were finalized for a
membership drive party to be held at 7 p.m., February 3, at the fire station. Women's Club welcomes new guest Lakeland Women’s Club met January 9 at the home of Martha Crawford. A lengthy discussion was held concerning program books for the coming year. It was noted that in December, the group made donations to the North Webster Christmas charity, North Webster, Syracuse, and Milford EMS. Imogene Palmer was welcomed as a new member. Lee Jordan and Dolores Weyler were guests. New chairmen for the coming year are: Beverly Braun and Hilda Stone, luncheon; Betty Beeman, hospitality; Ruth Starner, membership; Dorothy Crowell, membership book; Joyce Stoliker, name tags; Pat Merchant, projects; Marian Steedman, cards; and Mrs. - Crawford, historian. The February meeting will be held at North Webster United Methodist Church,
