10 YEARS AGO, NOV. 12,1975 Members of the Lakeland school board, meeting last night (Tuesday) for their November stated meeting, received reports on the Marshall and Stevens appraisal of the school properties as of November 6. The report showed both insurable and actual reproduction costs. The grand totals showed a valuation of $21,100,306. A number of volunteers were seen at the Syracuse city park on Sunday, taking advantage of the nice fall weather, to complete some much needed work there in preparation for other planned work at the park in the spring. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bomman and children, Candace, Chris and Shawn, of Syracuse and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Morehouse of Milford spent several days vacationing in Florida last week. Members of SyracuseWawasee American Legion Post 223 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1342, observed Veterans’ Day Tuesday with a brief but memorable ceremony at the corner of Main and Huntington streets. Ruth and Bill Hartman, r 1 Syracuse, have opened a coffee and donut shop, known as Hartman’s Coffee and Donut Shop, at 613 South Huntington street, Syracuse, on November 1. They plan to extend their line into sandwiches and fresh baked goods in the near future. The Hartmans are Nappanee natives where Mr. Hartman was employed for a number of years as a machinist.
