Former Milford Fire Chief Harold Kaiser dead at 64
gnrssiaa IAIMamI Rm runner iwiit uro rir© umei Harold E. Kaiser, 64, 307 S. Main St., Milford, died Friday, Oct. 25, at 11:05 p.m. at his home. Death was of an apparent heart attack. The deceased was born on July 2,1921, in Milford, the son of Ben and Marie (Vonßergen) Kaiser. On February 18,1950, he married Marjorie Baumgartner. She survives. A lifetime Milford resident, Kaiser was a bulk milk hauler and retired after 23 consecutive years as Milford Fire Department Chief. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Charleen) Miller, Milford, Mrs. Michael (Shelley) Tracy, Canon City, Colo.; one son, Douglas, Milford; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Howard Irene M. Johansen Former Kale Island Resident Irene Margaret Johansen, 90, Sarasota, Fla., formerly a summer resident of Kale Island, Lake Wawasee, for over 40 years, died Monday, Oct. 14, at 5:25 p.m. in Sarasota Hospital, Sarasota, Fla. She was born on June 28, 1895, and was a former Fort Wayne resident. Survivors include her husband, Frank E. Johansen. Funeral services were held at McCombs Lakeside Park Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, on Friday, Oct. 18, at 10:30 a.m. with burial in Leo Cemetery, Leo.

Deric D. Lemler Nappanee Youth Deric DeWayne Lemler, 7, r 2 Nappanee, was killed in a farm accident on Saturday, Oct. 26, on his great-grandfather’s farm when he was run over by a gravity wagon. Death was from a ruptured spline. The youth was a second grade student at Nappanee Central School and a member of the First Church of God, Nappanee. He had been champion in several tractor pedal pulling contests and participated in the North Wood High School wrestling program for grade school children. He also enjoyed working on the farm. • Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilber D. Lemler, Jr.; one sister, Lorie Lynn Lemler; two brothers, Isaac Wayne and Kyle James Lemler, all at home; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Lemler, Nappanee; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Avery, Syracuse; paternal' great-grandmother, Gladys Lemler, Nappanee; and paternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Teeter, Bremen. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 11 a.m. in First Church of God, Nappanee, with Rev. Robert Fields, pastor, and Rev. Brent Farmer, assistant pastor, officiating. Burial was in Bremen Cemetery. Thompson & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, was in charge of arrangements. Fred H. Schori Retired Former Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, in Milford Apostolic Christian Church for Fred H. Schori, 85, Lakeland Loving Care Center. He died in the Center on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 9:55 p.m. Death was due to complications after an extended illness. Schori was born in Switzerland on August 5,1899, the son of Godfred and Lena (Lught) Schori. He had resided in Milford since childhood. A retired farmer, he was a member of the Milford Apostolic Christian Church. Surviving are three sisters, Marie Reuter, Milford, Emma Clauss, Fort Wayne, and Freida Hany, Allington, Conn. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Ministers of the Apostolic Church conducted the service with burial following in Milford Cemetery. Mishler Funeral Home, Milford, was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services were held yesterday (Tuesday) at 10:30 a.m. at First Brethren Church Fellowship Center, Milford. Rev. Raymond L. Mort Retired Track Driver Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Harris Funeral Home, SR 13S, Syracuse, for Raymond L. (Wimpy) Mort, 53, North Webster. He away at 10:40 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, in Kosciusko Community Hospital. He was admitted a few days earlier after suffering a stroke. Mort was born on January 2, 1932, near Pierceton, the son of Lawrence arid Anna Irene (Lentz) Mort. He had lived most of his life in Kosciusko County. On April 12, 1961, he married Madelyn (Tyler) Mellinger. She survives. He was a member of the North Webster Church of God and was a retired truck driver for Pierceton Trucking Co. Surviving in addition to his wife are two stepdaughters, Mrs. Lowell (Jerinnie) Coverstone, Leesburg, and Julie Mellinger, Pierceton; four grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Ewen, San Jose, Calif. Rev. Steve Fouts, pastor of North Webster Church of God, conducted the service. Burial was in Washington-Union Cemetery near Pierceton. Howard Juday Rotirad Goshen Rubber Employee Howard Juday, 66, r 3 Syracuse, died yesterday evening (Tuesday) at 10:35 p.m. in Goshen Hospital from complications following a stroke. Juday was born on January 30, 1919, in Elkhart County, the son of Harry R. and Stella D. (Gray) Juday. On August 30,1946, he married Priscilla LeCount. A lifetime Syracuse resident, he was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Syracuse, a veteran of World War II serving in the Navy, and was retired from Goshen Rubber Co. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Garry (Karen) Ringler, Syracuse, and Mrs. Bernard (Marta) Emkes, Zionsville; five grandchildren; and one brother, Rex Juday, Warsaw. Friends may call at Harris Funeral Home, SR 13S, Syracuse, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday). Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Calvary United Methodist Church with Rev. David Maish officiating. Burial will follow in Syracuse Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Werstler, Box 19, Leesburg Bloodmobile over goal at Wawasee A goal of 125 pints of blood was reached with an additional 18 pints given by blood donors, according to Cindy Peterson coordinator for the bloodmobile at Wawasee High School, Tuesday. Mrs. Peterson reported 153 donors went through but only 142 pints were given. “It was the best ever,” she commented, adding there were more faculty and students donating blood this year than in years past. This year’s bloodmobile was in honor of Vai Kissinger, a 1985 Wawasee High School graduate who was striken with leukemia this year. Miss Kissinger and her family were present throughout the day. Lawrence Street, Middlebury, and father of Mrs. Alvin (Elva) Miller, and Henry M. Zook, both of Milford, died Friday, Oct. 25, at 6:15 p.m. at Greencroft Nursing Center. He had been a resident for four years. Zook was born at Meyersdale, Pa., on February 8,1905. On October 5, 1924, he married Tillie Kinsinger at Meyersdale. She preceded him in death on June 27, 1976. He was a retired farmer and mobile home industry employee. In 1956 he moved to the Goshen area. He had worked at Globemaster, Goshen, and Starcraft, Topeka. Paul Kinney Former Employee Os Bellows-Vai Vair Paul Kinney, 70, West Memphis, Arie., father of Richard Kinney, Syracuse, died August 29 in the Baptist Memorial Hospital, Cherokee Village, Ark. Kinney was born in Warsaw on September 2, 1914, the son of Perry and Libby Kinney. He had been an employee of Bellows-Vai Vair, Warsaw, and was transferred in 1961 to West Memphis, Ark. He retired in 1972.

From 1948 until his retirement in 1972 he was golf pro at Broadmoor Country Club. He was a member of the Indiana Golf Hall of Fame. The deceased was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Indiana and United States professional golf associations. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy M. Stater Epperson. He is survived by one son, David R. Epperson. Funeral services were held in Conkle Speedway Funeral Home.
