ceremony from the postal service were her husband, Tim Kurzhal; Lonzo Williams, director of customer services; Jane Roberts; and Regina Davenport, who has been the temporary officer in charge at Milford. The new postmaster served as
a distribution and window clerk in South Bend prior to being named postmaster at Milford. She was in Milford early last week and Regina did a good job of introducing her to many of the citizens of the community. IN RESPONSE to last week’s question on the September snow, Ralph Neff of r 1 stopped to tell us that he remembered the snow. Neff, now 86, was out thrashing his field of clover seed with his neighbor was forced to stop when the 1941 snow fall came. Incidentally, Neff has lived on that same farm now for 65 years. He and his late wife, Grace, moved there in March of 1920. —o— JENNIE HECKAMAN celebrated her birthday over the weekend in a very unusual way. She attended the wedding of a cousin in Fort Wayne. It was afeo the 50th anniversary of the bridegroom’s parents. The wedding
united Mark Bontrager and Ruth Hassig. The 50th wedding anniversary was observed by Kate and Joe Bontrager of Silver Lake. Jennie’s birthday was the 38th. She wouldn’t tell us her age but noted an uncle, Kenneth Yeiter of Atwood, observed his 75th birthday. Jennie, many don’t know it but she treated the wives of the Lions at a fish fry on a recent Monday night. While the Lions held their meeting, their wives enjoyed their own meal and a night out. IN CASE you haven’t noticed the tent near the Lake City Bank, it’s been put there by area car dealers. They will be holding the third annual Northern Kosciusko County Tent Sale Extravaganza on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Participating will be Buzz Keck Motor Car Co., of Syracuse,
Hibschman Motors of Syracuse and Milford Motors of Milford. They will be open from 9 a. m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 9 a.m. until the last customer on Saturday. DON’T FORGET the firemen’s chicken barbecue on Sunday. It’s carry out only. K jif’ ■J , / BIRTHDAY WISHES to Julia

Hurricane Gloria hits close to home
Marie Reuter, r 1, Milford, received word recently that the residence of her sister, Mrs. Frieda (Schori) Hany, in Ellington, Conn., was in the area of last week’s severe storm activity on the east coast. The report was that Mrs. Hany, formerly of Milford had two beautiful spruce trees blown down and, after the storm had subsided, her yard was strewn with all manner of debris from neighboring areas. Electricity was not available in the area for several days. Reuter expressed relief that her sister had not been injured in the severe weather even though the lost trees were beautiful.
