Elaine Alta Miller Sister Os Syracuse Woman Elaine Alta Miller, 59, Fort Wayne, sister of Alice Miller, Syracuse, died at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Mrs. Miller was a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne. In 1984 she retired after 11 years with the Veterans Administration Medical Center. Surviving are her husband, Martin J.; son son, Barry A., of Columbia City; two brothers, Eugene Litten, Seminole, Fla., and Fred Witte, Lake Worth, Fla.; five additional sisters, Geraldine Parker, Bernadine Knafel, Veletta Wetzel and Leona Thompson, all of Fort Wayne, and Irene McHenry, New Haven; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. Burial followed in Covington Memorial Gardens. Surviving are her husband and one son, Michael Crampton, Upper Marlboro, Md. Funeral services were held yesterday (Tuesday) at Mishler Funeral Home, Milford. Rev. Ruth Jones Sister Os Milford Woman Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, at Mount Tabor Church of God for Ruth Jones, 73,602 East Centennial St., Nappanee, sister of Bertha McCuen, Milford. She passed away at 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, in Michiana Community Hospital, South Bend. She had been in failing health for five years. Mrs. Jones was born on June 28, 1912, in Etna Green and had

|5,000 ARSON FIRE — Syracuse Firemen were called to the Morris Estate at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, by Bob Carlson when he saw the old Morris House was on fire. The estate is located on the Elkhart-Kosciusko County Line Road. Damage was estimated at |5,000 and is based on the possible salvage of the old lumber. Classes on heart disease to be given

The prevention and management of heart disease will be featured in a series of classes Sept. 16, 17, and 18, at Goshen Hospital. Each class will begin at 7 p.m. in the hosptial’s Pepple Auditorium. Topics planned for each session include: Session I — Dottie Kauffman, RN, cardiac rehabilitation coordinator, will provide information on the heart and its function. The remainder of the second session will be centered on a discussion of the emotional effects of heart attack for the patient, the spouse and the family. The thoughts and feelings of the patient and family both during and after hospitalization will be

clarified. Session 111 — Barb Fierce, dietitian, will discuss low salt, low cholesterol and low fat diets, which are followed by individuals following a heart attack or as a prevention for artery disease. Fierce will also coyer the basic food groups and foods to be avoided and eaten by the heart patient. There will be time to ask questions at each of the classes. Interested persons can call the Education Department for more information or to pre-register.
