Ladies Golf Results

AT MAX WELTON T & F was the play of the day for the Maxwelton Ladies Golf outing on Wednesday, July 24. The winners are: Nine-hole — Diann Weide and Joy Farr, tied for first; Inez Beiswanger, second; Deb Kirkdorfer, third. 18-hold winners — Delight Craig, first; Dee Bauner and Rosie Lantz, tied for second. AT BIG BOULDER Donna Bevington claimed top honors at Wednesday’s Big Boulder Belle ladies’ league golf outing. In addition to paring the course, Bevington collected an eagle, two birdies and pared three holes. She also had 10 putts. Other top scorers were: Bevington (low gross), Suzie Knapp (second low gross), Bevington (Low Net), Barbara Schultz (second low net), Maxine Johnson and Knapp (third low net tie), Bevington (low putt) and Schultz (second low putt). Swim club wins league championship Unitl the last stages, the outcome was uncertain. However, the Wawasee Swim Club was victorious when all points were tallied as they won the League II Championship meet in Fort Wayne last Wednesday. Wawasee topped the six team field with 416 points. Arlington Park followed with 408>2. Others participating were Glen Aqua (401), Black Hawk (3604), Orchard Ridge (238) and Columbia City (148). Aaron Kryder led the eight and under age group by tallying four points. In the 9-10 group, Andy Kryder sparkled with 28 points. Eric Schaekel followed with 17. Brandee Carlson topped the girls’ 9-10 group with seven points. In the 11-12 group, Thaddeus Dußois registered 21 points while Casey Kline chipped in 19. Lori Boles paced the girls in that group with 16 tallies. Brad Smith paced the 13-14 category with 28 points. Brain Neff and Eric Hood added 14 and 12 respectively. Jennifer Titus contributed 11 points for the girls. Steve Rozow and Brent Atwood each had 20 points in the 15 and over group. Pam Foyle sparked the girls with 23 tallies while Sue Boles added 18.

Milford Merchants win division II

Pushing their overall record 18-2, the Milford Merchants added six wins during the past two weeks. As a result, Milford ended the regular season winning the men’s division II bracket, while the Brew Crew from Nappanee took second with a 13-5 mark. On July 18, the Merchants outslugged the Brew Crew, 14-10. Don Kinney and Denny Lechlitner .paced Milford with three hits apiece. The Merchants pounded Lyon Greenleaf the same day, 18-0. Jeff Bonstead led the attack with four hits, including a homerun. Tim Yoder added three hits. Yoder also homered. Last Monday, Milford opened a twin bill against the Brew Crew with ambition, winning 20-0 in a five inning contest. Phil Sticter and Bonstead collected three hits

each. In addition, four Merchants had two hits for the game. Milford also won the second contest, 12-2. Kinney lashed three triples while Jay Kaiser homered to highlight the rout. The following Tuesday, Milford swept a doubleheader from Sea Nymph. The first game was forfieted. However, the Merchants ripped their opponents in the nightcap, 16-2 in a -five inning contest.
