Anna Karesh Active In Daycare Center Anna L. Karesh, 74, r 1 Syracuse, died in the early morning hours of Monday, July 29, at her home from an apparent heart attack. - She was born on December 3, I'9lo, in Ellington, Conn., to Fedrick and Lina (Mosemann) Gruenig. She married Joseph (“Doc”) Karesh pn February 17, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1982. Mrs. Karesh moved to Syracuse in 1955 from Stevens Pointe, Wis. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Syracuse, and the church circle. She was active in the Lakeland Daycare Center, Syracuse. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jesse (Joann) Hunt, Downey, Calif., Mrs. Stephen (Sylvia) Yoder, South Windsor, Conn.; one son, Milton, Syracuse; eight grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Gruenig, Akron, Ohio; and two brothers, Werner Gruenig, Rockville, Conn., and Paul Gruenig, Cape Coral, Fla. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, in St. Andrew’s United Church, SR 13N, Syracuse. Rev. Phil Frew will officiate and burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Harris Funeral Home, SR 13S, Syracuse. Margarette Preston Syracuse Resident For 20 Years Margarette L. Preston, 55, 617 Fourth of July Ave., Marineland Gardens, Syracuse, died at 9:30 a.m, Sunday, July 28, in Fountainview Place, Goshen. She was born on March 6, 1930, in Missouri, to Charles and Lucille (Street) Lambert. She married Nelson C. Preston on September 22, 1950. He preceded her in death in 1983. Mrs. Preston moved to the Syracuse area 20 years ago from Fort Wayne and was a graduate of North Side High School in 1949. She was a homemaker and a member of Zion Chapel United

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Yvonne) Evans, Goshen, Mrs. Thomas (Janet) McKinstry, Syracuse, and Mrs. Stephen (Cheryl) Heeter, Goshen; one son, Nelson Preston 11, Columbus; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Arthur (Judy) Schreiner, Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Robert (Jane) Taylor, Andover, Conn.; one stepson, Richard R. Preston, Albuquerque, N.M.; 19 grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren. Other survivors include her mother, Lucille Barton, Fort Wayne; three sisters, Roberta Wallace, Fort Wayne, Delores Henderson, Mansfield, Ohio, and Cathy LaMar, Oklahoma City, Okla.; and one brother, Charles Lambert, Silver Springs, Md. Funeral services were conducted today (Wednesday) at 11:30 a.m. in Harris Funeral Home, SR 13S, Syracuse. Rev. Donald Ross, pastor of Zion Chapel United Brethren Church, officiated and burial was in McClintic Cemetery, Syracuse. Virgil P. Taylor Brother Os Syracuse Man Virgil P. Taylor, 59, Cleveland, Ohio, brother of Charles F. Taylor, Syracuse, died in his home approximately Monday, July 22, in Cleveland. Death is not certain as he was in the house for some time. He was born in Cleveland on January 21,1926, the son of Virgil J. and Florence (Burlingance) Taylor. He was a resident of Cleveland all of his life except for the time spent in the US Air Force. In 1953 he married the former Beverly Tavernier. Taylor was a pharmacist, graduating from the University of Toledo Pharmacist School. He was a member of Suburban Community Church in Highland Heights, Ohio. Surviving besides the Syracuse brother are three daughters, Mrs. Gene (Bonnie) Andrews, Mrs. Randy (Cathy) Adams, and Mrs. Joe (Wendy) Rosenbaugh, all of Cleveland; one son, Scott Taylor, at home; five grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. A. T. (Estelle) Young, Cleveland. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 3, at 1 p.m. in Suburban Community Church with burial in Cleveland.
Preston A. Gregory Deacon Os North Webster Church Os The Brethren Funeral servicies were held yesterday (Tuesday) at 1:30 p.m. in Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, for Preston A. Gregory, 72, r 1 Pierceton. He died Friday, July 26, at 8:50 p.m. at his Barbee Lake home after being in ill health for several years. He was born in Maroa, 111., on September 13, 1912, the son of Tom and Margaret (Garvin) Gregory. He married Dorothy Kennedy on September 22, 1934. She survives. Gregory was elected a lifetime deacon of the North Webster Church of the Brethren in 1946, was a farmer, had worked at the Peabody Seating Co. in North Manchester and retired in 1973 from Merkler Machine Works, Fort Wayne. He was a graduate of the General Electric Tool & Die School; was a charter member of the Chain-O-Lakes Barbershop Chorus and sang in several other quartets, including the Pleasant View Gospel Four; was active in Farm Bureau, serving as chairman while a resident of Whitley County; member of the Splendid Splinters Club; winner of “Outstanding Neighborhood Soils & Crops Manager Award” of Whitley County, Neighborhood Foundations. Since 1974 Gregory had spent the winters in Bradenton, Fla., where he was an associate member of the Good Shepherd Church of the Brethren. Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, Danny D. Gregory, Leesburg; one daughter, Mrs. Randall (Judith) Vickers, Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Gregory, Warsaw; two sisters, Arline Krider and Mrs. Marshall (Maxine) Ressler, both of Columbia City. Dr. Dan White, Rev. Paul Shrider and Rev. Emery Kitner officiated at the services. Burial was in South Whitley Cemetery. Marjorie Barnhart Sunday School Teacher Marjorie Mae Barnhart, 52, 14816 County Rd. 133, Goshen, sister of area residents, died Monday, July 29, at 10:30 a m. at
her home. She had been ill two years with cancer. She was born on February 4, 1933, in Nappanee, the daughter of Charles Arthur and Florence (Journey) Wagner. On June 9, 1951, in Syracuse, she married Stanley D. Barnhart. He survives. Mrs. Barnhart was a member of the Syracuse Church of the Brethren, women’s fellowship of the church, Sunday School teacher, and a member of the Timbercrest Retirement Home Auxiliary, North Manchester. A resident of Goshen for 13 years, she had been employed at Miles Laboratory in Elkhart for 25 years. Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Mrs. William (Pamela) Hunsberger, Goshen, Mrs.* Gary (Deborah) Slabaugh, Tucson, Ariz.; two grandsons; her mother and stepfather, Larry and Florence Snyder, Dolton, Ill.; stepmother, Dorothy Wagner, Syracuse; three sisters, Mrs. Eugene (Doris) Gordon and Grace Wagner, both of Syracuse and Mrs. Tom (Alice) Kruger, North Webster; three brothers, Charles D. Wagner, Goldsburg, N.C., Mark Wagner, Richmond, and Steven Wagoner, Syracuse. She was preceded in death by her father and one son. Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Thursday) at 10:30 a m. in the Syracuse Church of the Brethren. Rev. John McFarland and Rev. Charles Baldwin will officiate. Burial will be in the Syracuse Cemetery. Friends may call in the YoderCulp Funeral Home, Goshen, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. tonight (Wednesday), and one hour prior to service on Thursday in the church. Friday, July 26, on Crooked Mile Road in Enchanted Hills. Cliff Lungquist, 17, 8517 S. Neenah, Burbank, 111., was taken to Goshen Hospital with a scalp laceration, laceration to the upper lip and three small lacerations to the knee. The ambulance was called to Pier 741 Lake Wawasee at 9:28 p.m. Friday, when Joan F. Schnieders, 64, 7545 N. Pennsylvania, Indianapolis, became ill. She was taken to Goshen Hospital. Teresa Rosillo, 27, r 2 box 4598 Syracuse, was taken to Goshen Hospital at 1:31 a.m., Saturday, July 27, after she became ill. Tamera K. Ummel, 28, r 1 box 253 Cromwell, was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital Tuesday, July 30, after becoming ill and contacting the EMS at 1:05 a.m. Alma Druckamiller, 75, 95 E. Shore Dr., Syracuse, was transported from Dr. Jack Clark’s office to Goshen Hospital, on tuesday. The EMS was called at 4:03 p.m.
