Their address is: Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Shearer and family, c/o American Indian Christian Mission, P. O. Box 1840, Show Low, Ariz. 85901. They would be pleased to hear from their Milford friends.

LAST WEEK we noted in this column the fact that two of the queen contestants in the Elkhart County Fair Queen contest had Milford ties. This week we share the fact that 33 Elkhart County 4-H’ers will be honored following the , queen’s coronation for completing 10 years in 4-H. Among those 33 young men and women is Sheri J. Bushong of Milford, who has completed 33 projects. AN EARLY birthday party to help celebrate the third birthday of Becky, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Patterson of Milford, was the occasion for the gathering of relatives and friends on Saturday evening, July 13. Becky’s birthday is today (Wednesday) and a second party, complete with birthday cupcakes, took place in the home of Mrs. John (Vickie) Murphy, Milford, with 10 friends present. The three-year-old’s party began with her eagerly opening gifts before cake and ice cream were served to the 30 guests present. Therocking horse cake was made by her grandmother, Mrs. Dallas (Mary Louise) Fox of New Paris. Among the guests were her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fox and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Patterson of Syracuse; and greatgrandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sheets of New Paris. Other relatives attending were Monica Maggert of Elkhart; Steve Patterson and children, Joshua and Lacey of Syracuse; Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Fox, Mr. and Mrs. William Berky and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Replogle and children, Denise, Greg and Darcy, all of Milford; and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Good and family. Wendy, Jerry, Joey, Matt and two friends, all of New Paris. Guests later in the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Mike Sumpter and daughter, Nichole, of Milford. OBSERVATION: LIKE most people, this editor feels bogged down in paper work from time to time. Maybe that’s why I always get a chuckle out of the poster that hangs above one of my many “do next” baskets. It shows a person at an overflowing desk trying to accomplish something. But what? Everything is in such a mess that getting the job done is next to impossible. At the top of the poster the calendar shows all of the major holidays crowded into one month — that is the way if feels around Jfkre at times. Only Tuesday morning the boss gave me information sheets on back to school sections and football photos. Yes. Football.

What’s happening to summer? The 4th of July was yesterday. No last week. No it was the week before last. Files in the poster are from A to Z, Etc., Other Etc., and Zzzzz. That’s the way most office workers feel when filing doesn’t get done. It would be much easier to use file 13. The piles on the desk include a very high one labeled “Due Yesterday.” On the floor with the telephone, a can of stress free cola and the over-flowing wastepaper basket are a variety of notes containing

the words rush, urgent, super rush, ASAP, hurry up, maxi important, sorta important and late. As of 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, this editor had 18 stacks with various labels from “must be done by 10 a m. Wednesday,” to “this week or else.” By the time I manage to get through these stacks there will be new ones. Guess that’s why I like the poster. Since I didn’t draw it (I inherited it when someone left) there must be other people in this world with deadlines too. Gee, I’m not alone! — JRS
