LOUISA'S LETTER 0.- 'A g==E: :

Dear Louisa, What do you do when your children bring home friends that you do not consider good companions for them? It seems to me that my girls and boys associate with people that my parents would not have allowed to come into the house. Their excuse when I object is to say that they are sorry for these people as other people are not nice to them. What can you do about such situations. K.F.—Penn. Answer: # It all depends on what you consider undesirables. If your children are kind to people who are respectable and who are trying to improve themselves with hard work and education, I should not consider such people

as bad associates unless the backgrounds of your two families are too different. Girls and boys do themselves a lot of harm by associating with such people. In time, the friends they should go with will class them in the same category with those odd balls. A parent should check on young people’s companions and point out to the girl or boy in a reasonable manner why some people are not welcome in one’s home. It is up to parents to use wise council, understanding and patience in guiding these youngsters before some of their dreams turn into nightmares.
