Doshia Tyson becomes bride of Paul Singer on May 18
Doshia E. Tyson became the bride of Paul A. Singer, 90 N. Shore Dr., Syracuse, in a doublering ceremony Saturday, May 18, at 2 p.m., in Benton Free Baptist Church, Goshen. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis E. Robinson, Syracuse, and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Tyson, Andalusia, Ala. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Geraldine Brown, Maumee, Ohio, and Mr. and Mrs. Grayum Singer, Kalamazoo, Mich. Rev. Lindell Krebs, pastor of the church, officiated at the ceremony in the presence of approximately 250 guests. The altar was decorated with two floral arrangements of blue and white carnations with pink roses. Linda Hall sang “My Only Love,” and Connie Swinehart and Marcia Krebs were pianists, The bride, who was given in marriage by her stepfather, Francis Robinson, wore a floor-

length gown made by Greta Hurd, Milford. The gathered full skirt was made of taffetta and Chantilly lace. She wore a picture hat with seed pearls and a veil, also made by Miss Hurd. She carried a silk floral arrangement. . . Ronda Hanshew, Goshen, was the maid of honor and wore a floor-length gown of pink taffetta. Her bouquet was a silk floral arrangement. Bridesmaids were Vanessa D. Schrock, Leesburg, Fla , and Starlet K. Tyson, Syracuse, both sisters of the bride. Mrs. Schrock’s gown was of pink taf- ' fetta and Miss Tyson’s of mauve chiffon. Silk floral arrangements •* were carried by the bridesmaids also. Melissa Jo Miller, Millersburg, was the flower girl. Richard Dinse, Kalamazoo, Mich., was the best man and bridegroomsmen were George
Anderson and Jeffery Smith, both of Kalamazoo. David N. Robinson, Goshen, uncle of the bride, and Saul Hall, also of Goshen, were the ushers. A reception was held immediately following the ceremony. Donna Miller, Linda Adkins and Lori Swinehart served. The couple is now residing at 90 N. Shore Dr., Syracuse, and will be taking a wedding trip at a later date. The bride graduated on May 19 from Wawasee High School and is employed at Lakeland Community Daycare Center, Syracuse. Her husband is a graduate of High School, Kalamazoo, Mich., and is employed at Sea Nymph, Inc., Syracuse. Hawaii is theme for banquet The 50th state, Hawaii, was the theme for the annual Christian Church of Milford’s motherdaughter banquet last Tuesday. Fran Spencer, president of the Women’s Fellowship, welcomed the mothers and daughters to the church’s Christian activities center which had been decorated with flowers, tropical fruit and tropical scenes. Hawaiian music was played throughout the evening to set the mood of the tripical islands. Many of the women in attendance were dressed in clothing from the islands. Following the salad bar, Sue Lechlitner served as mistress of ceremonies for the program. Elsie Free and Mary Jo Beck both read poems as tributes to mothers and daughters. Mrs. Lechlitner then introduced Janice Pippenger who told the history of the islands. Peg Custer directed elementary and junior high choirs as they presented Hawaiian music. Members of the elementary choir were Tiffany Ganger, Denise Replogle, Krista Brumbaugh, Heather Johnson and Tonya Dewart. Members of the junior high choir were Michelle Coy, Muffin Benning, Angela Harman, Diane Moore, Andrea Harwell, Crystal Harwell and Melanie Barrentine. Ginger Beer and Grace Shearer gave a chalk talk and the evening's devotions. A ladies trio, Leatrice Rapp, Evelyn Orn and Norma Chambers, sang a popular hymn in Hawaiian and Dorothy Tucker gave the closing prayer. Leesburg club has supper The Leesburg Homemakers Club met Wednesday, May 14, in the Leesburg Community Building for a spaghetti supper. Bea Grose and Betty Hetler served as hostesses. The 18 members in attendance were served, salad cake and drinks with their spaghetti. Games were played with everyone receiving a gift. Hostesses used newspapers for wrapping the gifts.

Mrs. Mort is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Baker, Clearwater, Fla., and Mort is the son of Mrs. Dorothy Mort, Pierceton, and the late Glen Mort. 'You can be better'is program topic The Naomi Circle of the St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church Syracuse met Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Richard Ditmer with 18 members present. The business meeting was conducted by Circle leader Mrs. James Hughes. Vera Hall had charge of a devotional period. She selected several of her favorite Bible verses and gave comments about them. Mrs. Robert Laudeman had charge of the program. She used some of her own meditations she has had printed in the Upper Room devotional magazine. Her subject was “You Can Be Better Than You Are,” stressing the importance of a good relationship with God rather than just good deeds. She ended her lesson by telling the group about her recent visit with her husband to St. Simons Island which is just off the eastern coast of Georgia. This island is steeped with Methodism and is the home of a very famous writer. Eugenia Price. She showed the book, “Leave Yourself Alone” which is Mrs. Price’s 26th inspirational book. This book is on the suggested reading list for United Methodist Women’s Circles this year, Mrs. Ditmer served fresh strawberry pie, nuts, and coffee. This circle will not meet again until September. The wedding for Miss Shelton and Miller will- be held in Nashville, Saturday, June 15. RECEIVES MASTER’S DEGREE — Beverly Rude was among the May 7 graduated of the University of Indiana, South Bend. She received her master’s degree in special education, and is certified to teach kindergarten through 12th grade in learning disabilities. Mrs. Rude received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater, Wis., and holds a kindergarten through 12th grade teaching certification in art education. She and husband Dennis have resided in Syracuse with sons Jesse and Samuel since 1980.
