&b ■ Charles Edwin Parker Former North Webster i' Town Marshal Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 1:30 p.m in Harris Funeral Home, SR 13S, Syracuse, for Charles Edwin Parker, 48, r 4 box 24 (Chapman Lake), Warsaw. He died Sunday, June 2, at 1:15 a.m. at St. John’s Mercy Hospital, Saint Louis, Mo. Death was caused by a massive -heart attack. Parker was born on October 31, 1936, near Peoria, 111., the son of Velda F. and Breta (Lumberry) Parker. He lived in the WarsawNorth Webster area since 1974 .after retirement from the Army. On June 16, 1979, he married Susanne (Boyer) Blosser and she survives. He was in the US Army for 23 years. North Webster town marshal for six years, and a member of the American Legion Post 253, North Webster, 40 et 8. and a past president of North Webster Lions Club. Parker was a Democratic candidate for Kosciusko County Sheriff in 1981. He served as director of the International Palace of Sports in North Webster for a number of years and was the 1982 chairman of the Mermaid Festival. Surviving in addition to his wife are his father, Velda Parker, Hammond; three daughters, Mrs. Don (Candy) Stearns. Rickcreek, North Webster, and Annette Blosser of Warsaw; one stepson, Charles Blosser of Warsaw; five grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Joan Bittick and Mrs. Loretta Vavercan, both of Hammond, Mrs. June Vicari of Hessville, Mrs. Rose Kobeszka of Highland, and Nancy Parker of Dolton, Ill.; and one brother, Al Parker of Hammond. An Army chaplain conducted the ceremony. The body was cremated. Memorials may be made to the heart fund. Elta F. Garber Lakeland Loving Care Resident Elta F. Garber, 90, a resident of the Lakeland Loving Care Center, Milford, died at the center at 3:58 a.m. Monday. She was the daughter of William and Sarah (Zirkle) Leming and was born in Carroll County on July 22,1894. She first married William Butz. He died in 1954. A former resident of Marion, she was a member of the Swayzee Street United Methodist Church of Marion. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Sarah Rowe, Warsaw, Mrs. Helen Stodard, Homestead, Fla., and Mrs. Hazel Irene Lanter, Antioch, Calif.; one son, C. Willis Butz, Homestead, Fla. ; 11 grandchildren; and 26 greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Marion. Interment will follow in Grand Memorial \Park Cemetery, Marion. \ 0. Neal Rodgers Marine Mechanic Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 8, at 1:30 p.m. at Syracuse Cemetery for O. Neal Rodgers, 76, r 1 Syracuse. He died at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, at Fountainview Place, Goshen. Rodgers was born on April 5, 1909, in Cromwell, the son of Melvin and Irma (Beazel) Rodgers. He was a lifetime Syracuse resident. He was a marine mechanic at Wawasee Boat Co. for many years, a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Syracuse, and the Masonic Lodge, Cromwell. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. James (Anita) Berkey, Glenellyn, 111., and two grandchildren.

Norma Jane Adams Employees At Venture Engineering And ManuF actunng Norma Jane Adams, 47, r 3 box 483 Syracuse, died Saturday, June 1, at 11:30 p.m. at her home. Death was of an apparent heart attack. She was born on April 4,1938, in Garrett, the daughter of Charles and Helen (Kauffman) Richcreek. She had lived in the Syracuse area all her life. On July 16, 1965, she married Lee Adams and he survives. Mrs. Adams was an employee at Venture Engineering and Manufacturing, Syracuse, and was a member of Syracuse Church of God and Hi-Neighbors Club. Surviving in addition to her husband is an aunt and uncles including L. G. Richcreek, North Webster, and Roy Richcreek of Goshen. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 10:30 a.m at Harris Funeral Home, SR 13S, Syracuse, Rev. Michael Johnson conducted the service and burial was in Syracuse Cemetery. Robert D. Williamson, Sr. World War II Veteran Robert D. Williamson, Sr., 57, r 1 box 318 Warsaw, died Friday, May 31, at 11:30 a.m. at Miller’s Merry Manor. He was born on January 7,1928, in Van Wert, Ohio, the son of Byrl and Mary (Smith) Williamson. He moved to the North Webster area from Decatur 19 years ago. On November 2,1962 he married Harriet Moser. The deceased was employed at Clausing Lathe, Warsaw, for 14 years, a member of the North Webster police department for five years, a member of Barbee Conservation Club, North Webster, American Legion, and former member of North Webster Lions and Kosciusko County FOP. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Connie Guetig, Crestwood, Ky., and Mrs. Tammy Shannon, Decatur; one son, Robert Jr., of Florida; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Charissa Koontz, Mishawaka, Mrs. Landa Bussard, Warsaw and Mrs. Annette Hiatt, Muncie; one stepson, Tom Schell, Decatur; 17 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Harshman, Vandalia, Ohio, and Mrs. Almeda Hunter, Decatur; two brothers, Earl Williamson, Pleasant Mills, and Lewis Williamson of Decatur. One sister preceded him in death. Memorial services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at Harris Funeral Home, SR 13S, Syracuse, with Rev. Keith Burch officiating. Edith Ummel Mother of Syracuse Man Edith Ummel, 83, Greencroft Central Manor, Goshen, formerly of r 1 Claypool, died last Tuesday in the Goshen Hospital. She was the mother of Eldom Ummel of Syracuse. She was born June 19, 1901, in Union Township. She marreid Edward Ummel in November of 1922. He died on June 15,1942. She was a dairy farmer, a homemaker and was the 4-H Mother of the World in 1962. Her 10 children were enrolled in 4-H for a total of 103 years. She was a member of the Akron Church of God and the Kosciusko County Holstein Dairy Association. Surviving with the Syracuse son are four daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Carol) Hines of Fort

Wayne, Mrs. Wayne (Joan} Kirkham, Greencastle, Mrs. Arlo (Lois) Knouff of St. Louis and Mrs. Eldon (Phyllis) Swick of Columbia City; four other sons, Robert of Rolling Prairie, Herbert of Wakarusa, Stanley of Fremont and Max of Rochester; 23 grandchildren; and 23 great grandson. One son, Rev. Richard Ummel, died in 1971. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters. Funeral services were held on Friday in the Reith-Rohrer-Ehrt Funeral Home in Goshen with Rev. Norman Patton, pastor of the First Church of God officiating. Burial was in Yellow Creek Cemetery.

Syracuse , EMS Syracuse EMS was called at 9:43 p.m. Friday, May 31, after Robert DelaFuente, 24, box 325 Milford, was involved in an accident. He complained of pain in right chest area and severe headache. He was transported to Goshen Hospital. The EMS was dispatched to the home of Phylis Poss, 54, 734 Island Ave., Syracuse, at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, after she fell from a 12-foot ladder and landed on her chest on a wood floor. She received pain in the chest and was transported to Goshen Hospital. Thomas Gerstaner, 48, box 478 Syracuse, was found on the restroom floor at Wawasee Realty. He was having pain in his chest and had difficulty breathing. The EMS was called at 11:16 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, and transported him to Goshen Hospital. At 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, Rodney Hann, 26, r 2 box 50 Syracuse, came to station complaining of weakness on left side and pain in chest. Also difficulty breathing and stated numbness in toes and fingers. He was transported to Goshen Hospital. The EMS was called at 6:51 a.m. Sunday, June 2, to the residence of Luella C. Mullins, 59, r 5 box 182 Syracuse. She fell getting out of bed and twisted her leg. A leg splint was applied and her leg was stabilized with sandbags. She was transported to Goshen Hospital. The EMS was called at 11:01 p.m. Sunday, June 2, to the home of Lilian I. Stein, 81, r 3 box 436, Syracuse. She fell and hurt her leg and had pain in her hip. Her leg was stabilized with sandbags and she was transported to Goshen Hospital. The EMS was called to the Scout Cabin parking lot on Monday, June 3, at 4:50 p.m. Kim Nquyen, 9, 113 Boston St., Syracuse, fell and hurt his left knee and suffered a possible fractured right wrist. A board splint was applied to his arm and he was transported to Goshen Hospital. Steve Stucko, 20, r 1 Syracuse, was involved in a motorcycle accident at SR 13 and Chicago St. at
Brown on June 8,1922. He died on June 10, 1980; The deceased was a member of the First Brethren Church and the church’s Women’s Missionary Society. She served as church organist for a number of years. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Sorosis Club of Milford; a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary; and a 50-year member of Kosciusko Chapter 160, Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are one son, Robert, of Milford; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. One sister, Inez Phend; and one brother, Joe Wysong, preceded her in death. Rev. Paul Tinkel, pastor of the church, officiated at the services.

Knobel, 81, Lake Worth, Fla., died Tuesday afternoon, May 28, in Lake Worth. She was born June 9, 1903, in Milford, the daughter of Earl and Olive Tom. She was married to Albert C. Knobel of Nappanee on August 5,1928, in M ford. He survives. They resided in South Bend until 1946 when they moved to Florida. Until 1981 she and her husband spent their summers on

WHITE FRONT REOPENS — The White Front in North Webster is reopening, not as a grocery this time but as an all-natural, “real” food store with products containing no additives, preservatives or artificial colorings. Deb Pilcher, pictured above, the new owner, has also included a homemade deli featuring roast beef, shaved ham, a wide selection of cheeses and different homemade salads. The White Front will carry bulk items from nuts to spices to specialty flours, as well as Amish baked goods. Charles E. (“Bud”) Folk, 66, 21314 State Line Road, Elkhart, was the brother-in-law of Mrs. Robert (Treva) Plank, Syracuse. He died at 1:15 p.m. Friday, May 17, in Fountainview Place, Elkhart.
