According to his son, Jan Kaiser, he is coming along fine. He is a patient at Lykes Memorial Hospital, Brooksville, Fla.

JAMES S. HOSTETLER SUFFERS HEART ATTACK James S. Hostetler, r 1 box 19A, Milford, suffered a heart attack Saturday evening, April 27, and was admitted to Goshen Hospital. He was taken out of intension care yesterday (Tuesday) but is still on a heart monitor. He is now allowed visitors. His room number is 313 and he will remain a patient for another week. Births PIPP, Chelsea Lynn Mr. and Mrs. William (Terry) Pipp, Minnetonka, Minn., are the parents of a daughter, Chelsea Lynn, born Monday, April 29. Maternal grandparents are Charles Rocque and the late Marilyn Rocque, Oaklawn, 111., and Webster Lake. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. William Pipp, Syracuse Lake. Maternal great-grandmother is Bernell Fisher, Eden Shores, North Webster and paternal great-grandmother is Olive Betes, Syracuse. She weighed seven pounds, six ounces, and measured 19 inches long. She has two sisters, Stephanie, five, and Brenda, 2*2. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ora Wyse, Archibold, Ohio, and paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Foo Wong, Syracuse. Maternal greatgrandfather is Henry Wyse, Archibold, and paternal greatgrandmother is Ying Ho Wong, New York City, N.Y. TEMPLIN, Trent Allan Mr. and Mrs. Scott (Amy) Templin, r 2 Milford, are the parents of a son, Trent Allen, born Monday, April 29, at 2:24 p.m. at Elkhart Hospital. Trent weighed eight pounds, eight ounces, and measured 22 inches in length.

Syracuse EMS • Syracuse Emergency Medical Service was called to the home of Stanley D. Mikel, 59, r 1 Syracuse, at 5:41 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, following a farm accident. Mikel was taken to Goshen Hospital. Wilfred Ternet, 66, r 2 box 122 Syracuse, was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital on Thursday, April 25. The EMS was called at 2:55 p.m. after he became ill. Ruth E. (“Betty”) Socks, 69, 9 Rose Lane, Syracuse, became ill and contacted the EMS at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27. She was transported to Goshen Hospital. The EMS was called to Wawasee High School at 1:19 p.m. Saturday when Mike Oliver, 15, 2704 S. Ninth St., Elkhart, suffered a possible broken left forearm while wrestling. He was taken to Goshen Hospital. Rosary Burbank, 45, r 1 box 625 H Leesburg, wag advised to go to the hospital after being hit in the head with a golf ball at South Shore Golf Course. The EMS was called at 5:38 p.m. on Saturday.

Syracuse EMS was called to an accident at the intersection of Bowser Road and SR 13 near Wawasee Bowl at 4:49 p.m. Tuesday. Transported to Goshen Hospital were Roger Williams, 38, r 2 box 377A Syracuse, who complained of pain in the rib area and suffered abrasions to the left upper arm ; Amy M. Faulkner, 10 months old, r 2 box 466 Leesburg, abrasions to the right ankle and left cheek; Steven Johnson, r 2 box 466 Leesburg, pain to the right knee and elbow, contusion on right elbow and a small puncture would; and Garry Crafton, 22, r 5 box 116 Syracuse, complained of pain in elbow and cervical area. Frank and x Evelyn Johnson Diabetic classes at Goshen One person in every 20 in the United States has diabetes and its incidence increases with age. Understanding the disease is important in its care. The Diabetic Education Program of Goshen Hospital offers a series of diabetic classes on May 7,8, and 9 at 2 p.m. at the hospital. The purpose of the classes is to teach diabetics and their families about the disease and to familiarize the diabetic in the necessary steps for control of it. The first class, scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, is entitled, “What is Diabetes and How to Care for It.” It will be taught by Nancy Schooley, R.N., Diabetic Education Coordinator. “Diet and Diabetes” is presented by Barb Fierce, hospital dietitian, on Wednesday afternoon. The final class on Thursday is entitled “How Diabetes Affects Your Body.” All diabetics, their families and other interested people, are invited to attend. Stanley Mikel injured in a farming accident Stanley Mikel, r 1 Syracuse, is reported in good condition in Goshen Hospital following a farming accident Wednesday evening, April 24, at approximately 5:41 p.m. He will be hospitalized three to four weeks. Mrs. Russell (Pat) Mikel, Milford, daughter-in-law of Mikel’s, reported Monday he has regained movement in his left fingers and the doctors are hoping to save his arm. He did suffer loss of tissue and one broken bone. Mrs. Mikel indicated her father-in-law was loading soybeans when he lost his balance on some of the felled beans on the grown and fell into the power take off shaft of the auger. The PTO caught his arm with damage to the upper and forearm area as well as some of his clothing.

Samuel E. Helminger Milford Native Samuel E. Helminger, 73, Mexico Beach Sta, Panama City, Fla., died Monday, April 15, after a short illness. He was a native of Milford but for a few years he lived and worked in Elkhart. He was the son of John and Bertha Helminger. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two daughters, Marlene Harris, Atlanta, Ga., Shirlie Vigoda, Milford, Conn.; one sister, Pauline Myers, Wabash; 10 grandchildren; and six greatHeart disease classes at Goshen Hospital The prevention and management of heart disease will be featured in a series of classes May 7,9, ( and 10, at Goshen Hospital. Each class will begin at 7 p.m. in the hospital’s Pepple Auditorium. Topics planned for each session include: Session I — Dottie Kauffmann, R.N., cardiac rehabilitation coordinator, will provide information on the heart and its function, the process of heart disease and healing of the heart after a heart attact. Specific types of heart disease or complications will be considered. Session II — Barb Fierce, dietician, will discuss low salt, low cholesterol and low fat diets, which are followed by individuals following a heart attack or as a prevention for artery disease. Fierce will also cover the basic food groups and foods to be avoided and eaten by the heart patient. Session 111 — Dottie Kauffmann will discuss commonly prescribed heart medications, their action on the heart and possible side effects. The remainder of the third session will be centered on a discussion of the emotional effects of heart attack for the patient, the spouse and the family. The thoughts and feelings of the patient and family both during and after hospitalization will be clarified. There will be time to ask questions at each of the classes. grandchildren. One brother, Forrest, and two sisters, Dorothy Ulery, Elkhart, and Mary Jane Beiswanger, Milford, are deceased. Services were under the direction of the Comforter Funeral Home, Beacon Hill, Mexico Beach. Memorials may be made to the Lung Association. Edward Maertz WWII Veteran Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, in the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Warsaw, for Edward Maertz, 67, r 1 Warsaw, who died at 12:04 a.m. Sunday, April 21, in Kosciusko Community Hospital. He had been in ill health for some time. Maertz was born on August 29, 1917, in Sheboygan, Wis., the son of Peter and Marie (Dimler) Maertz. On August 26, 1940, he married Alice Rownes in New York city, N.Y. She survives. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Bronx, N.Y., was a radio and TV repair service man in New York city, N.Y., and a veteran of World War II where he served in the Army Signal Corps. Surviving in addition to his wife are five daughters, Mrs. Bruce (Marianne) Prater, Warsaw, Mrs. Lonnie (Evelyn) Rake, Syracuse, Mrs. Michael (Ellen) Short, Staten Island, N.Y., Mrs. John (Joan) Radigan, Old Bridge, N.J., and Mrs. Salvatore (Carol) Tozzi, Union Beach, N.J.; two sisters, Mrs. Martin (Wilma) Koehler, New Port Richey, Fla., Clara Young, De Funiak Fla.; 13 grandchildren;

Chamness Funeral Home, Warsaw, was in charge of arrangements. ■’’ I . James P. McCracken Retired Construction Worker James P. McCracken, 88, 307 N. Henry St., Milford, passed ayray at 12:30 a.m., Sunday, April 28, at Goshen Hospital. He was born on March 14,1897, in Elnora. On March 5, 1918, he married Eloise Pressler. He moved from Chicago to Milford 22 years ago. McCraicker was a retired construction* worker, a member of the Milford United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 226, and a World War I Army veteran. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Leßoy : (Lois) i Moe, Milford, and Mrs. Tom (Delores) Auer, Corpus Christi, Texas; a son, James R., Azel, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, two sisters, and one brother. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, at the Mishler Funeral Home, Milford, with Rev. Robert Ellison, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial followed in Milford Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to, Goshen Hospital’s Hospice program or the American Cancer Society.
