Jail-A-Thon scheduled to. 5. benefit Cancer Society

The Kosciusko County Chapter of the American Cancer Society has “subpoenaed” local residents, John Hall and Judith Mugg, to co-chair the first annual Jail-a-Thon to raise money for the Cancer Society. The Jail-a-Thon will be held Thursday, April 25, and Friday, April 26, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Kosciusko County Historical Museum Jail. The public will have the opportunity to call 267-3757 to order a “special charity summons” for anyone they want arrested. For a $25 donation, volunteer local and county police officers will visit the person to be “arrested,” explain the situation, and goodnaturedly whisk them away to the mock jail at the Kosciusko County Historical site. Once at the jail, local judges and attorneys will set bail and the “jailbirds” will then have the opportunity to call friends and acquaintances to raise pledges for their release. Most of the “prisoners” will be incarcerated for approximately one hour.
