/ Kathryn Bice, Andrew Brown united in double ring ceremony
Kathryn 'D. Bice, 506 W. Emeline Street, Milford, became the bride of Andrew J. Brown, r 2 box 184 Milford, in a double ring ceremony performed before 250 guests on Saturday, March 2, at 3:30 p.m., in Calvary United* Methodist Church, SR 13S, Syracuse. Rev. Robert Ellison, pastor of United Methodist Church, Milford, conducted the ceremony. The couple’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Donald D. (Monica) Bice, Sr., 506 W. Emeline Street, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Marilyn) Brown, 307 W. Catherine Street, all of Milford. The altar was decorated with an arrangement of fresh flowers consisting of mini carnations in shades of pink and purple, white daisies, pink tulips, greens and purple iris. The sanctuary had two baskets of ferns and baby’s breath and a white bow. The candlebra-brass was decorated with greens, mini carnations and daisies in shades of white and lavendar with the unity candle being white with greens and baby’s breath. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Roose sang, “I Believe,” ‘‘The Wedding Prayer,” and “Whither Thou Goest,” with Donna Wagner accompaning on the organ. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Her gown * was made of long white chiffonette, embroidered Chantilly lace over white taffeta, featuring a Regina neckline and threequarter length sleeves. The skirt was gathered at the waistline and there was a chapel train. Her chapel-length veil was of silk illusion and the headpiece was a wreath of silk stephanotis, forget-me-nots and baby’s breath. She carried flowers that were in shades of pink, purple and white, rubrum lilies, iris, mini carnations, stephanotis, and baby’s breath tied with a white ribbon. The bridegroom and his attendants and fathers of the couple wore oxford grey cutaway tuxedos with pearl grey vests. The bridegroom’s boutonniere was a white rosebud stephanotis with baby’s breath. The attendants and fathers boutonnieres were made of stephanotis and baby’s breath. Elizabeth Bradley, South Bend, was maid of honor. Her gown was floor-length rosebud taffeta, with eyelet embroidered bodice, scalloped Sabrina neckline, Vback, and puff sleeves worn of the shoulders. She carried a small cascade of varying shades of iris, mini carnations and baby’s breath, the same colors as the bride’s. Sheila Lamb, Detroit, Mich.; Sandra Paul, Mishawaka, cousin of the bride , and Brenda Skelton, Milford, served as bridesmaids. They wore dresses and carried
Meals for Older Americans
Meals for Older Americans are served each day at the following locations: The Scout Cabin, Syracuse; the Pierceton Community Building; Mentone Community Room in the fire station; and the Retired Tigers Center, 320 W. Main, Warsaw. Meals for Older Americans is for persons 60 years or older and is a chance to meet new friends and enjoy hot, nutritional meals. The sites are opened several hours each day including noon for programs. Meals for Older Americans is not associated with welfare but is for the promotion for better health for the older population. Donations are accepted for the meals. The site directors request all persons planning on attending the meals to make reservations by 1 p.m. the day prior to attending. Honored at shower Mrs. Lloyd Kammerdiener, 301 N. Harrison St., Syracuse, and Mrs. John Hartzler, 14037 CR 50 Syracuse, hosted a bridal shower in the former’s home, Sunday afternoon, April 14, for their niece, Diane Kammerdiener, also of Syracuse. Miss Kammerdiener will be married on June 22, to Dave Granger, Almond, N.Y. A silk floral arrangement, which was presented to the guest of honor, centered the serving table from which cake, punch, nuts and mints were served to the 11 women and two children present, including the bride-elect’s mother, Mrs. Ralph Kammerdiener, 15144 CR 50, Syracuse. Tomorrow Tomorrow has been defined as “today’s greatest labor-saving device.”

flowers the same as the maid of honor. Norman Runkle, Columbia City, served as best man. The groomsmen were Greg Wyant, Marion; Jay Kaiser, Milford; and Michael Clark, Milford. Ens. Carl A. Brice, USN, Norfolk, Va., brother of the bride; and Robert Smith, Indianapolis, served as ushers. The bride’s mother chose a two-piece street-length mauve dress of polyester with a lace trimmed bodice, long sleeves with wide lace trim at the wrist, and a gathered waist with a peplum gathered skirt. The bridegroom’s mother chose a street-length pleated dress featuring a jewel neckline with long gathered sleeves and the bodice in shades of lavendar and orchid with a grey skirt. Both wore corsages of white roses, stephanotis, baby’s breath and varying shades of mini carnations. A dinner reception following the ceremony was held at

Camelot Hall, North Webster. The wedding cake was served by Mrs. James Weaver and Mrs. Randy Warren. Dancing followed the dinner with music provided by disc jockey Brent Randall. The couple enjoyed a honeymoon to Nassau, Bahamas, from March 3-11. They are now at home at r 2 box 184 Milford. The gride is a 1979 graduate of Wawasee High School and a 1984 graduate of Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame. She was employed at Saint Joseph Medical Center, South Bend, after graduation, as a registered nurse. She is presently employed at Goshen Hospital on the surgical floor and is member of the Milford Jayceettes. The bridegroom is also a 1979 graduate of Wawasee. High School and a 1983 graduate of Purdue University. He is employed as construction foreman for Phend and Brown, Inc., Milford, a member of Milford Jaycees and Milford United Methodist Church.

Hartman, r 2 Milford, will celebrate 25 years of marriage on Sunday, April 28, with an open house from 2:30 to 5 p.m. at the Turkey Creek Church of the Brethren, CR 13 Gravelton. Hartman and the former Clarabelle Welty were married February 27, 1960 in the Bethany Church of the-Brethren by Rev. Israel Gorden. Mr. Hartman is employed at Mutschlers of Nappanee. The celebration will be hosted by their three children, Daniel, Wyoming, Brian, Milford, and Keith, a student at Bethel College, Mishawaka. The couple requests no gifts.

MHford Senior Citizens hove carry-in dinner The Milford Senior Citizens met Sunday, April 14, at the community building. A carry-in dinner was served at 1 p.m. with Rev. Howard Kreider giving grace. Tables were decorated with yellow pompons and napkin rings with yellow napkins. Iva Neff and Darlene Miller were in charge. The meeting was opened with the pledge to the flag. “Happy Birthday” was sung to those having birthdays in April, one of whom was Vera Schell who will observe her 95th birthday on April 27. She was presented a gift and a cake was served in her honor. Nancy Brown and Pete Chinworth of Warsaw spoke of their services to be offered the elderly. The name of their project is “Handy Man/Homemaker Services.” Marie Stephenson was selected to be senior citizen’s queen for the year. She will receive her crown at the May 14 meeting. Ann Heaton, the reigning queen, will do the honors. May 22 will be the area queen contest at Warsaw’s Center Park pavilion. It is open to the public. After the business meeting, Barbara Carwile of Syracuse showed slides of her vacation, autumn in Wisconsin and of Gettesburg, Pa. Mrs. Sharkey of the Nappanee Senior Citizens read a poem, “After 80.” There were 48 present from Goshen, Syracuse, Nappanee, Warsaw, and Milford. Round Table Ladies learn 'Hymnology' Members of the Ladies of the Round Table, Syracuse, presented a program on “Hymnology” by Rebecca Andrews, Albion, during the April 8 meeting. There were 19 members and three visitors present. Mrs. Andrews is the daughter of Anna Chance, club member. She showed the group there are many used for a church hymnal, including hymns listed for the various seasons of the Christian year, lists of composers and their hymns, as well as the index of hymn titles and other uses. Eloyce Van Lou was hostess for the meeting, which was held in her home on Harrison Street, Syracuse. She was assisted by Helen Miller and Char Ough. Naomi McFarland had the devotions. A member of Ladies of the Round Table and also president of the Federation of Women’s Club for the county, Mrs. McFarland gave a report on the county convention held on March 20, in Mentone. Mrs. McFarland shared with the group “The Lesson of The Kelidescope,’’ which she prepared for presentation at the county convention. Calvary United Methodist Church will be the site of the May meeting of the group. This will be an annual spring party, where new officers will be installed and secret pals revealed.
X j <■ CELEBRATES 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY - Mr. and Mrs. Donald Fox, Milford, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, April 6, at the home of their daughter in Warsaw. Hosts were their children, Mr. and Mrs. Burl (Norma) Jr., of Warsaw and Mr. and Mrs. David Fox, New Paris. Fox and the former Joy Dausman were married April 6, 1935. They have five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Fox retired in 1975 after 30 years of service as a fuel oil/gasoline distributor..
