Sharon Meek named to dean's list
Sharon Meek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Edwin Meek, 618 South Main Street, Syracuse, has been named to the dean’s list for the 1984 fall semester at Fort Wayne Bible College, Fort Wayne. Sharon is studying for the bachelor of arts degree at the Bible college. She is a graduate of Wawasee High School.

A student must achieve & grade point average of at least 3.35 (a B plus average) in order to be included in the honor roll. Sharon has a 3.87 GPA. Fort Wayne Bible College is a co-educational institution of higher learning preparing students for careers in churchrelated Christian service. The over 450 students at the college
represent 18 states and three foreign countries and are from 28 religious denominations. The college offers the bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, bachelor of music, bachelor of music education and associate of arts degrees and a four-year Bible studies program. Fort Wayne Bible College has national institutional accreditation as a member of the American Association of Bible Colleges. The Bible college is currently a candidate for regional accreditation by the North Center Association of Colleges and Schools. ||M .. 1 MILFORD HISTORY’ CLUB — Theo Beer was the recent guest speaker of the History of Milford Club at Milford Junior High School. Beer shared early experiences in Milford life with the students of the club. Anyone wishing to speak about life in early Milford is asked to contact Joan Folk at the school. Theo Beer guest speaker at History of Milford Club
Theo Beer of Milford was the recent guest of the History of Milford Club at Milford Junior High School. He related some of his experiences as a youth in Milfofid. He said he walked a mile and a half to school through the fields and woods. The school was heated with a wood-burning stove which the big boys fired. The youngest students got to sit near the stove and keep warm, but the older students had to wear warmer clothing. All eight grades were in one
Webster Cub Scouts hold annual Pinewood Derby
North Webster Cub Scouts recently conducted the annual Pinewood Derby in Camelot Hall. There were 25 boys participating in the event. Judges for the derby were? Carlos Williams, John Hanel, both from the North Webster Lions Club; Susie Williams, president of North Webster Lady Lions Club; and Steve Eastman, Eagle Scout. During the meeting Eastman gave a short presentation to the Cub Scouts concerning his Scouting accomplishments. Grand prize winner, Scott Lawrence, received a medallion and a race car radio. Steve Bartel was the second place winner. Prizes were awarded to the following in specific categories: Mike Nave, best design; Scott Lawrence, best workmanship;

room at the school. Lessons were recited at a long recitation bench at the front of the room. Students were called there by the teacher when it was their turn to recite. Beer remembers winning a “Spell Down” that he didn’t expect to win by spelling the word ‘gentlemen’. At recess they played games such as, “Duck on the Rock,” “Run Sheep Run,” softball and blackman. Each student carried his own lunch in a lunch pail. Good weather found them eating

Two area residents on ‘ dean's list A total of 674 students at Vincennes University qualified for the dean's list during the fall term according to an announcement made recently by Dr. John Schmeling, vice president for instructional services and dean of faculty and Jerry Gegenheimer, vice president for student services and registrar. In order to qualify for the dean’s list, a student must complete 12 credit hours or more with an average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.

Hiler nominates two county residents to military academies
Congressman John Hiler has announced that Bradley Kent Mitchell and Kenneth M. Reali have been nominated to US military service academies. On making the announcement, Hiler said, “I am pleased to nominate these outstanding young people to the nation’s military academies.
