New Daisy Girl Scouts

By SUSAN KUNTZ Girl Scout Field Director Girl Scouting has taken another step forward in its commitment to serve all girls. Now membership in the Girl Scout movement is open to girls who are five years old or in kindergarten. These new members are named for the founder of Girl Scouting in the U.S., Juliette Low, known as “Daisy” to her family and friends. Indiana Lakeland Girl Scout Council has registered its first Daisy Girl Scout troop at Eastwood School in Elkhart. They made Daisy Girl Scout paper bag puppets at their first meeting November 1. Their leaders, Sharon Bradley and Charity Johnson, both of Elkhart, greeted them with daisy-shaped name tags and refreshments. They played several games and met in a Daisy Circle to learn the Girl Scout promise. Daisy Girl Scouts will not sell Girl Scout cookies or any other products. Troops are supported by parental donations and by sponsors. Daisy Girl Scouts will participate in the total Girl Scout v program at a level compatible with their physical, intellectual, social and emotional needs. Leaders are being trained as interest is shown. If you are interested in learning more about Daisy Girl Scouting
