Light and Life magazine, the official publication of the Free Methodist Church of North America, announces it 1985 writing contest. Contestants may submit one entry of original, unpublished material in each of the two categories: essayi and poetry. Deadline for submission is April 15. 1985. The theme for the essay is “The Greatest Challenge Facing Today's Christian.’’ Managing editor Lyn Cryderman suggests a helpful hint. “Writers should be specific. The challenge may be in the area of a person's personal life, church doctrine or discipline, or a subject of your choice." Maximum length is 750 words with a minimum of 600 words. The poem may be written about any topic in any form, including free verse or ryhymed, keeping in mind that the poet should show rather than tell. Poems should range from eight to 16 lines. Cash prizes will be awarded in each category. Submissions should be typed, double-spaced. The author s name and the article’s title should appear on each page. No articles will be returned without a self-addressed, stamped envelope. near Nappanee is our Crime of the Week. During the night of November 6, 1984, intruders entered the Swartz Buggy Shop located on CR 1350 N and 950 W. Entry was made by breaking a lock on a shop door. Taken in this burglary was a large quantity of tools, including a wire welder and talks, along with a large amount of hand tools, including a drill press, hand drills, sanders, grinders and socket sets.
