18 YEARS AGO, OCT. 9, 1974 Excellent response was reported from North Webster, Milford, Syracuse and Fairfield schools in the junior bolwing program this year at Wawasee Bowl. The Land O’Lakes junior bowling program started last weekend with 20 teams, four per team, in grades seven and eight; 14 teams of Bantams consisting of grades four, five and six; eight teams for high school on Monday nights and six teams on Tuesday nights. Mr. and Mrs. Gumecindo Alvarado of Milford, are the parents of a son bom Friday, Oct. 4, at the Goshen Hospital. Members of the Milford Senior Citizen organization will meet at 1 p.m. Sunday for a carry-in dinner at the Christian Church activities center. During the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Arch Baumgartner will present a slide show of their trip to South America and Africa. 20 YEARS AGO, OCT. 8,1964 The following is the report of Milford chief of police Clifford Pierson as given at the Milford town board meeting Monday evening. There were two dog complaints, 27 miscellaneous complaints, eight traffic arrests, three criminal arrests, four accidents investigated, two fire calls, three attempted breaking and entry and the car was driven 1,685 miles. Beer, it was decided to have a pantry sale on Oct. 16, for the purpose of donating to the school for retarted and palsied children. Mrs. Beer, who was assisted by Mrs. Glenn Price, used fall flowers and jack o’lantems for decorations in the house. At the Saturday night drawing on Oct. 9, there will be two jackpost, one of $75 and one of $25. Last Saturday night ten dollars was awarded to Illene Hollar, and a box of candy from the Walter Drug store to Miss Bonnie Rassi. Stanley Wuthrich drew the names. October is National Co-op Month

Kosciusko County Farm Bureau Cooperative Association, Inc., as a member of the Indiana Farm Bureau Cooperative System, has announced that October is National Co-op Month. A cooperative is different than other businesses in that it (was formed by, and is owned by, its users. It functions similarly to many other businesses, but the profits go back to the owners (customers). The goal of the Co-op is to supply farmers in this area with superior service and quality products at competitive prices. As a member of the Cooperative System, the Co-op participates in programs and offers a full line of agricultural products and services available through Indiana Farm Bureau Co-op. This includes access to exclusive research findings and products developed from them. Despite the affiliation, Kosciusko County Farm Bureau Co-op is a self-governed entity with its own board of directors and' management. It makes its own-decisions and functions independently of the regional cooperative. Kosciusko County Farm Bureau’s three (3) branches supply farmers with a full line of agricultural products and services as well as farm management consultation. The products range from animal feed, crops products and petroleum products through grain marketing support. They employ 17 people from this area.
