About the, windchill A little interesting information on • windchill factor" comes to us from Lores Steury, Goshen College weather observer. The chart that is used to compute ‘windchill factor"!the temperature we feel with the combined efforts of wind and cold harrassing us) was created by the Medical Research Lab of the I S Army Paul Siple is credited with the first computations. A few examples of windchill: if the temperature is 20 degrees with a 10 mile'per hour wind, we have the equivalent of 3 degrees. Lores terms this very cold A temp of 20 degrees linked with 20 mph.winds equals minus 10 degrees and is "bitter cold." The same with 35 mph equals minus 20 degrees and is ‘•extremely cold If your circulation is still in order after - extremely cold" weather perhaps you d like to try some with 40 mph winds, after that it s clear sailing 'cause it just doesn't get much colder if the wind speed increases more than 40 mph For instance, at zero degrees with a 40mph breeze, it's only minus 53 degrees. Zero with 45 mph winds is only minus 54 degrees, a difference of one degree '- 1 1 "
