LOUISA'S LETTER (•£ J S=~~ ==: J=§:
Dear Louisa, Why do some husbands think they have to act as critics of their wives instead of praising them for the thing they do well. I have a good husband who is a good provider but he seems to think his role in life is to find out what I've done wrong and tell me about it. Most of the time it doesn’t make any difference. He doesn’t get in the house before he starts. Yesterday I had cooked a good dinner and had gone to the trouble of fixing things he liked. The children came in saying how good the dinner smelled and we were having a good time when he came in. The first thing he said was, “the living room certainly looks a mess, it seems like you could have the house looking decent by evening.” It was just like a wet blanket being thrown over us. What can I do about such a husband? If it wasn’t that it would have been something else. L.F. —Wis. Answer: There are two kinds of people in this world — those who look for
Dawn Wray weds Kraig Allen in August 25 ceremony
The First United Methodist Church in Warsaw was the site of the August 25 wedding of Dawn Marie Wray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Wray. 932 E. Center St., Warsaw, and Kraig H. Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allen, r 2 Leesburg. Dr. Barton Fletcher, pastor, performed the double-ring ceremony before approximately 225 relatives and friends of the couple. Music for the ceremony was provided by Rosie Gable, organist; Kip Allen and Max Wray, soloists; and the groom sang a wedding prayer to his bride. The altar was decorated with pink and white flower baskets filled with gladolias, carnations and roses. The pews and candelabra were decorated with pink bows Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a gown of white organza featuring Victorian sleeves and a high neckline. The neckline, waist, lower sleeve and bodice of the gown were accented with Scheffli embroidery, done in a pearl lustre thread. The bodice, skirt and the knife pleated apron of the gown were covered with an overlay of silk Venician lace and the apron effect gave the dress a layered look, which fell into the full chapel train, decorated with satin ribbon and irridescent trim. Her picture frame hat was covered in Scheffli and Alencon lace with a large puff and trailing streamers in back. She carried a cascading bouquet of silk roses, carnations, apple blossoms, accented with white silk streamers. The matron of honor was Mrs. Steven Pylant of Fort Wayne. She wore a floor-length gown of pink Quiana knit with a high neck and a deep V-effect covered in Scheffli embroidery. A single pink rose with white baby's breath adorned her hair. She carried a white fireside basket filled with pink and white silk carnations and roses, accented with baby’s breath. Bridesmaids were Miss Floie Stouder. Winona Lake and Miss Diana Horn and Miss LuAnn Wray, both of Warsaw. Miss Kristin Knipp of Fort Wayne was the junior bridesmaid. All of the bridal attendants wore gowns identical to that worn by the matron of honor. The groom chose Robert Allen of Leesburg as his best man. Serving as groomsmen and ushers for the ceremony were Ken Allen, North Webster; Kip Allen, Pierceton; and Dan Wray of Warsaw. Steven Pylant of Fort Wayne also served as an usher. Junior usher for the ceremony was Jason Beer of Fort Wayne. A reception, immediately following the ceremony, was held* in the fellowship hall of the church. Servers for the reception were Debra Allen, Gayle Allen, Susan Kindig and Bobbi Shadle. The bride is a 1980 graduate of
the good in this world and others who look for faults in other people. He doesn’t realize that the old adage “you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar” still holds true. It is most discouraging for a husband or wife to have a mate who is bent on finding fault, unless the mate is really slovenly the critic would get much further and accomplish his ends much quicker with judicious praise. This man could have come in commenting on the good dinner and then suggested the children help mother by straightening up things in the living room so that ail would be more comfortable. Many people find fault with others because they have guilt feelings about things that they themselves have failed to do and rationalize by blaming others. A wife who is confident of her mate’s admiration and love will knock herself out trying to please him. It is a pity that so few husbands realize this.
