Milford Town Board approves $275,922 budget for 1985

By MARK WEINSTEIN Start Writer The Milford Town Board conducted a special meeting Monday, Aug. 27, to approve the $275,922 budget for the 1985 fiscal year, and take care of other pressing matters. The budget represents a $2.22 net tax rate and is slightly above the $2.11 figure in 1984. The approval of the budget took barely a minute as town board president Jean Treesh and board member Darrell Orn unanimously approved the budget. Board member Dennis Wuthrich was late and did not have a vote in the matter. In other business, all three members agreed to accept the resignation of Milford Deputy Rich Schneiders, effective September 8. Ora asked the board about a replacement, but it was reported that the town might not have enough money this year to pay for a full-time deputy. Orn continued, “I think we should at least advertise for a replacement. If we don’t do that, how will anyone know we need a deputy?” Also concerning the police department, the board, without any reservations, decided to sell the reserve police car to the highest bidder. The police car was recently damaged in a onecar accident. “I think it would cost more to fix it up, than what it is worth," said Wuthrich. “Let’s get riaSf-ft-to whoever will pay us the most money.” It was also reported that Milford Town Marshal Dave Hobbs is still looking for someone to serve as the crossing guard for this school year. Anyone interested should contact Hobbs, or a town official.
