Angela Blackburn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Blackburn, r 1 Claypool, became the bride of Randall Lewis, r 1 Pierceton, son of Estel Lewis and Mrs. Kent Bragg, both of Pierceton, at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 7. Rev. Donald Poyser performed the double ring ceremony at the Burket United Methodist Church in Burket. Given in marriage by her parents, the bride chose Anita Holloway of Akron to be her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kathy Lewis and Michele Lewis, both of Pierceton, and both sisters of the groom. COUPLE CELEBRATING 45TH ANNIVERSARY — Mr. and Mrs. Hubert (“Hub”) Walters, San Leandro, Calif., former Kosciusko County residents, will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary, Wednesday, Aug. 8. The couple is spending the summer at Lake Tippecanoe visiting friends and relatives in the area. Mr. and Mrs. Walters were married August 8, 1939, in Valparaiso. They are the parents of two daughters, Mrs.-John (Pamela) Fagrell, Los Gatos, Calif., and Mrs. Charles (Donna) Jurczak, Oakland, Calif. The couple also has three grandchildren. Walters was born and raised in Burket and is a graduate of Burket High School and International Business College in Fort Wayne. He is retired from the wholesale beauty supply business. Mrs. Walters was born and raised in the Pierceton area and graduated from Pierceton High School. Before retirement, she was employed as a beautician.

Meals for older Americans

Meals for Older Americans are served each day at the following locations: The American Legion, 1 SR 13 Syracuse; the Pierceton** Community Building; Mentone Community Room in the fire station; and the Retired Tigers Center, 320 W. Main, Warsaw. Meals for Older Americans is for persons 60 years or older and is a chance to meet new friends and enjoy hot. nutritional meals. The sites are opened several hours each day including noon for programs. Meals for Older Americans is not associated with welfare but is for the promotion for better health for the older population. Donations are accepted for the meals. The site directors request all persons planning on attending the meals to make reservations by 1 p.m. the day prior to attending. Tamara Miller becomes July bride of Kevin McCal

Tamara Lee Miller and Kevin J. McCal were united in marriage on Sunday, July 29, at 3 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church, Goshen. Rev. Fuhrman Miller performed the double-ring ceremony in front of approximately 150 guests. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. T.A. Miller, Milford and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth McCal, Elkhart. The bride, presented by her father, wore a white satin-taffeta floor-length, gown with off the shoulders puff sleeves and a tucked surplus bodice and self fabric roses at the shoulders and streamers at the waist. The gown had a semi-cathedral train. The bride also wore gloves. Her headdress was a wreath of white taffeta roses, pearls and short streamers that held a shoulderlength embroidered veil. The bride carried a cascade of deep lavender roses with baby’s breath, greenery and ribbon streamers in deep purple and pink. Lynn VanDaele, Goshen, was the matron of honor. She wore a floor-length lavender satintaffeta gown with a tucked surplus bodice, ruffle sleeves and a sash, held at the waist with a self-fabric rose. She also wore gloves. Her headdress was a lavender satin-taffeta rose with baby’s breath and short streamers. She carried deep lavender roses, baby’s breath, greenery and streamers in shades of deep purple and pink. The bride’s mother wore a pale lavender floor-length sheathwrap skirt with a lace overblouse. The groom’s mother wore a rosy lavender floor-length flared skirt with lace capelet. Both mothers wore a ■ corsage made of roses, baby’s breath and ribbon. The church was decorated with two bouquets of white gladioli, lavender pom pons, baby’s breath and greenery. Lavender mum plants were on stands beside the altar and lavender bows were on the pews. White glads and greenery also decorated a candleabra. Mrs. Richard Weaver was the organist and Mrs. Steven Yoder was the soloist. A reception was held immediately following the ceremony at the Tippecanoe Lake Country Club. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Treesh, all of Milford, greeted guests prior to the bridal party’s arrival. Rev. Henry Miller uncle of the bride, Chrismon, 111., offered prayer before the dinner was served. z An arrangement of white gladioli, lavender pom .pons, miniature carhations and a silver candleabra decorated the bridal table. The other tables were decorated with bud vases with lavender tipped carnations. Foilwing a wedding trip to Florida, the couple is residing in West Lafayette. The bride is a graduate of Wawasee High School and Purdue University. This fall she will enter the School of Veterinary -Medicine at Purdue. The bridegroom graduated from Concord High School and Purdue University. He Will enter graduate school at Purdue this fall.
