10 YEARS AGO, JULY 17,1974 Sports activities were discussed by the Milford Area Jaycees when they held their regular meeting last Thursday at the fire station. Ideas on sports are being sought from all members. Dave Gardonis volunteered to help develop the program. Former Lions Club district governor D.G. Seely showed slides of the Pearl Harbor disaster of Dec. 7, 1941, at the Milford Lions Club Monday night. The Donn Keslers were up early on Monday morning to meet the 4:20 bus in Fort Wayne. The bus brought them two youngsters from Washington D.C. for a twoweek visit in the country. A The trip for the youngsters was arranged through the Kesler’s daughter, Linda, who is working in the capital.

20 YEARS AGO, JULY 16,1964 Mr. Ryland Mock of Syracuse, and Mrs. Jacob Tusing, Jr., of r 1 Syracuse, honored Jdiss Jean Good of Milford, with a bridal shower at the country home of Mrs. Tusing of east of Leesburg on Thursday evening, July 9. Miss Good will become the bride of Richard Ankey of South Bend July 25. Mrs. Fred Johnson of r 1 Syracuse, will speak at the Monday evening meeting of the Milford Lions Club. Mrs. Johnson spent last winter on the University of the Seven Seas floating classroom traveling around the world. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Catron, Sharon, Karen and Bruce, of Westerville, Ohio, spent a few days last week at the Waubee Lake home of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd
Coy and family. Mrs. Catron is a sister to Mrs. Coy. 30 YEARS AGO, JULY 15,1954 Milford Cub Scouts, Cub Scout Master Bill Flinn, Den Mothers and some parents plan to attend an afternoon and evening outing Saturday at The Pioneer Trails Camp at Gordy Lake, two miles southand one-half mile east of Indian Village on highway 5. Mr. and Mrs. H. Ray Eberhard, formerly of Jeffersonville, have moved into the house owned and recently remodeled by Hoy Jones, located on Elm St. in Milford. Carolyn Augsberger, Milford’s young equestrienne, has another charge these days. Her well known riding horse Flicka gave birth to a colt Sunday, June 2?, and “Sissy” came up with a most unusual name for her charge. She wanted a spotted colt, but when her dad told her it wasn’t spotted, she said, “Well, he’ll do.” And from that the young colt’s name — Heel-Due. 50 YEARS AGO. JULY 19,1934 Charles Purdum is attending summer school at the Culver Military Academy. Miss Lucille Haab and Miss Helen Weisser are employed this week at the Stony Ridge Hotel at Tippecanoe lake. Milton Wysong, educational director of the conservation department, has been giving a series of talks on WOWO radio. Mr. and Mrs. William Martin and Mrs. and Mrs. Ralph Berkeypile, who were recently married, were given a good old fashioned belling Wednesday night. Approximately 178 people enjoyed a treat on the newlyweds at Baumgartner Case.

SLEEPWALKING — While most enjoyed the events at Lakeland Loving Care Center’s fund raising carnival. Saturday, July 14, it seemed to tire some of the youngsters out quick. Depsite a short afternoon nap which couldn’t be avoided, this little one, like other carnival goers, enjoyed the day’s activities. Some of the events at the carnival included a dunk tank, bake sales, craft booths, a dart toss game and music by the. Ray Dawes Family Singers. The money raised by the event will go to the activities fund at the center.
4-H Reunion on August 4

HOYT Extension Agent 4-H And Youth All past Kosciusko County 4-H members are invited to attend the second annual 4-H Reunion to be held on Saturday, Aug. 4, from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Show Barn at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds. The 4-H Reunion will give 4-H alumni the opportunity to renew acquaintances, review past 4-H records, look at old photographs Wawasee Village Syracuse 457-4678
from past 4-H activities and enjoy plenty of good fellowship with other 4-H people. Many hours of planning and work by lots of volunteers will make this year’s reunion another success. The committee this year includes: Jon and Tina Goon, Karlton Goon, Thames Goon, Lorna Laker, Martha Coppes, Gene and Jean Messmore, Dennis Polk, Jim Watkins, Hubert and Beth Krull, Don and Barb Goon, Viola Fisher, Mrs. Schaffer and Mrs. Dickey. Serving as chairman this year are Barb Goon and Viola Fisher. Also helping promote .this year’s 4-H reunion are the Kosciusko County Fair Association and McDonalds of Warsaw. \ Any former 4-H member who has old photographs, 4-H records or any other items that may be of interest to others, are encouraged to contribute to the exhibit. All photographs and other materials Syracuse police Syracuse police chief Warren Swartz received several complaint calls, all which were investigated by the local department. Arlene Carboneau reported to police that while she was eating at the Shrimpboat Restaurant Monday, July 16, someone had stolen her prescription sun glasses. Mrs. Carboneau estimated the glasses were worth $l5O. Howard Cottrell, Goshen, told police officials that tools from his car were stolen Monday, July 16. The tools, estimated at a value of S3OO, were taken from Cottrell’s truck, which was parked near the Crow’s Nest land development. On the same day, Carolyn Umbaugh reported that someone had stolen her purse from the inside of her car around 11 a m. Items from the purse include two checkbooks, $3 in change, a SIOO pair of prescription sun glasses, and several credit cards.
