books or as Mrs. Drew said, “We have anything.” The profits of the shop go the the King’s Exchange Board, which is chaired by pastor O. Rex Lindemood of the United Methodist Church in North Webster. Proceeds have been used to buy the building where King’s Exchange is now located, for youth projects and to assist those not as fortunate. If a family has a fire or any type of loss, they can go into the shop and pick out items they need free of charge. Also, at Christmas the shop gives $25 gift certificates to poor families which can be used to. buy merchandise in the shop, said the manager. Mrs Drew is helped in operating the shop by volunteer women from the church. The best selling item is sweaters in the summer, she related. “In the summer, you can’t believe the people who come up to the lakes and it turns cold, so they run in here and buy a sweater.” The King’s Exchange originally began in the Mid-Lakes Shopping Center, then moved to the Epworth Forest Road and then located west of the stoplight in North Webster before finding its present home on Main Street. But, it doesn’t matter where the King’s Exchange is located, one can be sure it’s providing a valuable service to the church and community. Picnic held A picnic, sponsored by the Women’s Fellowship, was enjoyed in the Bethel Churchyard on Sunday, June 10, following the church services. The 43 members present enjoyed the meal. Mary Ann Dowty presided over the business meeting. The slate of officers for the coming year was read and includes vice president, Arlene Cory; secretary, Mary Kesler and member at large, Erma Chambers.
