James Bumgardner has been promoted to vice president of Lake City Bank. Bumgardner, who joined Lake City Bank in 1981, replaces Kenneth Rucker as head of the mortgage loan department. He has a degree in business administration from Ball State University and is actively involved in the Lakeland Girl Scout Council and the Warsaw Exchange Club. He and his wife, Donna, are the parents of two children and are members of the Presbyterian Church.

Paul Siebenmorgen was also recently promoted to vice president of Lake City Bank Siebenmorgen, a graduate of Indiana State University, receiving both a bachelor of science and a master
of science degree, also graduated from Commercial Lending School of Robert Morris Associates in Norman, Okla., and attended the first class of the Kosciusko Leadership Academy. His responsibilities at Lake City Bank are in the commercial and agricultural lending areas. He is; also a member of the Kosciusko Community YMCA board of directors. Siebenmorgen and his wife, Marilyn, are the parents of two children, members of the First United Methodist Church and reside in Winona Lake. One son, Hugh, is serving with the Air Force in Idaho. | Car damaged when rear tire drops in man hole A car driven by Jeanne Sorensen, r 1 box 125 P, Milford received S3OO damage when her rear left tire dropped down a man hole at the intersection of Catherine and Henry Streets. Milford Town Marshal David Hobbs reported that the Sorensen vehicle was east bound on Catherine street when Jt drove over a man hole cover. The cover flipped off, causing the rear tire to fall into the man hole. No injuries were reported to Mrs. Sorensen. The 1976 Ford she was driving received damage to the tire rim, tire and springs. Two from area IUSB graduates Indiana University at South Bend conferred 722 degrees at the May 8 commencement ceremonies in South Bend’s Century Center. The list of graduates includes those qualifying for degrees in December, May and August. Local students receiving degrees include: Ann Burke Beer. Milford, bachelor of science degree in elementary education and Sandra Ann Korenstra, Milford, master of science degree in secondary education.
H ... > ) SPECIAL AWARD — Nilah Jonasch, right, received an award from Dick McDaniel, president of the Dewart Lake Protective Association, on behalf of the late Edward A. Jonasch for his service to the Dewart Lake area. The award was presented during the Dewart Lake Protective Association’s annual meeting at Harper’s Restaurant, Sunday, June 3. During the meeting, reports on boating safety, sewage from the lake, fishing from the Department of Natural Resources and a report from the police concerning lake protection were heard. A new board of directors was named during the lengthy meeting. Lonnie Clem, Brian Wall, Al Eades, Norman Metzler, Jerry Dain, Lenny Foyle, Henry Diya, Betty Bush, Shirley Johnson, Gary Oliver and George Jamiel were all elected to the board.

Shank, Syracuse optometrist, spoke to the Milford Lions Club Monday night and showed color slides of a two-week working vacation he and Mrs. Shank took to the Dominican Republic. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Ott, r 1 Milford, are the parents of a son born Monday, June 3, at the Goshen Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Evar Troup of Milford, entertained in their home Saturday evening, May 25, for a graduation reception for their son, Qavid. Punch, cake, nuts and mints were served. Guests were from North Webster, Syracuse, Nappanee and Goshen. David is presently working at Arrow Corp, in Leesburg. 20 YE ARS AGO, JUNE 4,1964 Milford Lions are planning their golf tournament, to be held at South Shore Golf Course on June 10-14, with the presentation of trophies at the Monday, June 15, meeting. Lion Justin Kneeland has charge of the tourney. Board members decided to clean and re-decorate the Milford town hall at their regular meeting held Monday evening in the hall. Mrs. Stanley Scott and daughter, Susie, spent Tuesday night in Marion visiting Mrs. Verl Thwaits and family and attending the mother and daughter banquet as guests of Mrs. Thwaits. 30 YEARS AGO, JUNE 3, 1954 Rev. and Mrs. L.W. Shultz of Camp Alexander Mack, Milford, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Carole Dean, to James O. Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Davis, of Hobart, Ind. Miss Shultz is a graduate of Manchester College and is employed in the Hobart Cfe Schools. Her fiance attended Indiana University, and is now enrolled at Indiana University Center. No injuries but damage done in cartractor accident Milford Town Marshal Dave Hobbs reported a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Emeline Street and the alley west of West Street, Friday, June 1. In the report, Shirley J. Lindsey was eastbound on Emeline Street when a northbound tractor, driven by Jared J. Hampton, collided with her car. Hampton’s Allis Chalmers tractor’s throttle was reportedly stuck wide-open and Hampton could not get the farm vehicle stopped in time. He proceeded to run into the right rear quarterpanel of Mrs. Lindsey’s car, and then go around the Lindsey car and smash the left rear quarterpanel. Damages to Mrs. Lindsey’s car was estimated at $1,500 while Hampton’s tractor received damage to the front end and stearing column, totally SSOO. No citations were issued at the scene. Power lines down Milford Volunteer Fire Department answered a fire call Tuesday, June 5, near Kendall Biller’s residence off 425 W and 1150 N. According to Fire Chief Max Duncan, Don Rumfelt was working with a backhoe when he accidentally knocked over some REMC power lines causing a small grass fire. Duncan said the fire was under control right away, but he was unsure of the possibility of power loss in the area.

Saturday at the Rudy Sierk farm, located on CR 425 W a mile south of Hastings, to what could have been a serious fire. Rudy Sierk was working on a truck in the large frame barn when the truck caught afire, threatening the entire barn. Sierk burned his right hand but did not require medical treatment. The fire was contained when firemen arrived.

a shelter for victims of abuse is being planned for Kosciusko County. A carry-in dinner was served at noon with birthday cake for dessert. Roll call was responded to by giving readings about the dangers of using drugs and tobacco. Mabie Eberhardt was a guest. Temperance books and films, pertaining to the use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco, were taken to the North Webster school library by Mrs. Barrett and Vera Morehouse. Rhoda Mock will be hostess for the June meeting. Mrs. Kline gave the closing prayer.
