■'i'" H CELEBRATING 60 YEARS — Mr. and Mrs. Waldo L. Adams of Leesburg will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house at their home June 10 from 2-5 p.m. Hosting the open house will be the couple's sort and his family, Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Adams. There are three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Adapts was the former Mabe! F. Dickey and was a public school teacher in the Akron-Beaver Dam area. Before retiring to Tippecanoe Laie, Mr. Adams was a school superintendant and teacher and is presently the Kosciusko County Historian. The couple was married June 4. 1924, at the home of the bride s parents by Rev. Noah McCoy’. The couple requests friends and relatives attendance at the celebration as the only gifts. z*

Lakeland Art Association to open spring exhibit
The 27th annual Lakeland Art Association Spring Exhibit will open to the public Saturday and Sunday. June 2-3. at the Otis R Bowen Center, 850 N. Harrison St., Warsaw The hours will be 9 a m. to 9 p.m., with a special viewing and reception from 2-5 p rfi on Saturday. Sunday hours will be 2-5 p.m An artists' reception, critique and awards presentation will be held from 1-4:30 p.m., Sunday. Wabash, who has judged several, other juried shows Ribbons and cash awards will be awarded for Best of Show (the J O. ZimmeY Memorial Award), and for the first, second and third places in all classes of each division, as well as honorable mention awards. It is also expected that there will be a number of purchase awards. Special recognition awards will be given on the basis of the viewer preference balloting by the public on Saturday. ’ Categories will include painting in al! mediums, pencil, charcoal, ink, pastel, sculpture, carving. photography, china painting and miniatures, no larger than 5x7 inches. Josephine Hopkins crowned 1984 Senior Citizens Queen
Josephine Hopkins, Winona Lake, was crowned Senior Citizen queen for 1984 on Wednesday, May 23, in the Center Lake Pavilion, Warsaw. She was crowned by the Kosciusko county queen for 1983, Vera Shell, Milford, and Charlene Bradberry, secretary of the County Council on Aging. Mrs. Hopkins was selected over two other candidates, Marguerite Forrest, Syracuse; and Ann Heaton, Milford. Don Frantz, master of ceremonies introduced Mobile meals drivers Drivers for the Syracuse Mobile Meals have been scheduled for the week of June 4-8. Lakeland Art show previously. Entries must be ready to hang. The entry time is Friday. June 1, between the hours of 5-8 p.m. Entries for the adult division will be accepted from Art Association members and non-members, 18 years and older; students division includes junior and senior high school with judging held separately in each group. Art demonstrations will be given throughout the two-day show by various Association members The Association also sponsors an art scholarship to a graduating senior, winning an award during the regular spring show, through separate competition. Frantz also introduced Max Shivley, Leesburg, who presented a program of organ music. There were about 50 present including Rebecca Ross and Ruby Stewart of Mechanicsburg, 111. Before the crowning Mrs. Shell gave an interesting and humorous report of her year as queen. Mrs. Hopkins was escorted to the front by her son, Phillip. Mrs. Forrest by her son, Jack; and Mrs. Heaton by her husband, Robert. Following the program Mrs. James Heaton and her committee from the County Council on Aging served refreshments. Additional honors for Creative Co-eds Members of the Milford Creative Co-eds 4-H club performed their humorous fashion review at Jackson Middle School, South Bend, last week. Their winning performance at Warsaw High School several weeks ago for the Kosciusko County Share-the-Fun contest earned them the right to compete at the area level. Sixteen performances were given and the judges chose the six top honor acts. The Creative Coeds were selected as one of these acts. The following girls participated: Kristi Templin, Karen and Laura Haney, Lisa Kaiser, Sharon Gerencser, Holly and Amy Jodry, Teresa Musselman, Tara Netherly, Bobbi and Becki Haab, Pam Shock and Lessli Hershberger. After the show the girls and their mothers ate at a South Bend restaurant. A short business meeting was held. Karen Haney and Kristi Templin will be graduating from Wawasee High School and they were honored by their leaders, Mrs. Richard Kaiser and Mrs. Jerry Templin.

Afternoon Bridge*A*Rama has luncheon
The Lakeland Afternoon Bridge-A-Rama ladies group held an awards luncheon on Thursday, May 10, in a Syracuse Visiting in Canada Mrs. Herschel Leatherman, r,3 Syracuse, and daughter Mrs. J. Dean Leer, Goshen, have gone to Toronto, Canada, for a visit with their daughter and sister, Mrs. Joseph Umbrico and family. On Friday, June 1, they will attend the Toronto Symphony of which Mrs. Umbrico and husband are members. At this concert, in the Roy Thompson Hall, the first half of the program will feature Mrs. Umbrico on the harp, the second half of the program she will play with the symphony. Her husband holds first chair in the trumpet section.

Their son and wife, M r - and Mrs. Jerry (Peg) Method of Milford were hosts. The couple was married by Rev. Noah McCoy in the UB parsonage at Fort Wayne on May 18, 1934. Mrs. Method is the former Virginia Goshert of Warsaw. They have one son, Jerry of Milford, and thr ? ee grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Garden dub plans to hold June plant sale Mrs. Carlos Porter was the hostess for the Syracuse Wawasee Garden Club meeting Tuesday evening, May 1. Diane Kennedy was a guest. Tentative plans were made to take a trip to Fernwood for the Mother’s Day Herb Festival on Thursday, May 10. Members were urged to start drying flowers in preparation for the potpourri lesson in September, There will be a plant sale, an annual event, at JJ. Robbins’ on June 5. members were urged to be there at 7 p m. to take advantage of the daylight and to bring surplus herb seedlings for exchange. Marian Porter presented a demonstration on constructing a moss hanging basket. She planted it with herbs to be used m cooking and recommended hanging it outside the kitchen door. Refreshments were served and a social hour followed.
