Throughout the summer Quaker Haven hosts three family camps sponsored by the yearly meeting, which attracts 100-150 people to participate in family and/or individual programs and activities. There’s also a summer retreat or “short course” for pastors of the Friends Church. The pastors will come for one week with their families for additional study and relaxation. There are over 150 participants. Quaker Haven serves all of Indiana and part of Ohio, Illinois and Michigan. Activities Weekly campers have numerous activities in addition to devotions and study times, organized learning activities and group worship. Activities include volleyball, softball, tennis, tetherball, canoeing, rowboating, sailing, swimming, archery, basketball, soccer, badmitton, ping-pong, billiards, table games and earth ball. Older youths can participate in building programs in an area of learning, such as cooking or making picnic benches. 4 On family weekends, all of the activities are available. There is a recreational vehicle area with complete hook-up facilities or there are cabin camping, dorm facilities, a retreat center, or private cottages. Year Around Summer is the busiest time for the camp, however, the facilities are used throughout the year. Those buildings built for winter use, have been used for banquets of church groups, businesses and other organizations.
