Throw away the oars
By CHARLES PLUEDDEMAN 4 Sweat dripped off the brow of the young man as he pulled at the oars of the heavy wooden rowboat. A glance over his shoulder revealed only a few hundred more yards to go, but with the strong headwind it would be at least 20 minutes to his destination. The time didn’t really matter any more. His mission, the delivery of some ice cream to his sweetheart on this hot July afternoon.
