10 YEARS AGO. MAY 15,1974 Dan Levenier was elected commander of Ancil Geiger post 226, American Legion, Milford, when the post met Monday night. The Milford Aces led by Pete Melendez won their second game of the season over the South Bend Aztecas 104. Melendez went three for four with three RBl’s and two home runs to lead the Aces hitting Attack. The Milford Alumni Banquet will be held on Saturday, May 23, at the high school. A social hour will be in the assembly from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. with dinner served in the gym at 6:30. 12 millionth name in computer
During the week of April 15, the name of the 12 millionth registrant was entered into Selective Service computer records, reports Thomas K. Turnage, director of Selective Service. Registration was resumed in the summer of 1980. Men born in 1969 and later years, both U.S. citizens and aliens residing in the United States, are required to register as they reach 18. Latest registration statistics show an overall compliance rate of 97 percent —a very successful program. Indiana has received 291,130 registrations as of the end of March. The registration compliance rate for the state is 96.79 percent. Men register by going to any U.S. Post Office and filling out a registration form which asks only for their name, address, telephone number, social security number and date of birth. They should take some form of identification (driver’s license, student ID card, etc. > with them to
