Final meeting held for CROP

At the Christian Response to Overseas Poverty final pre-sale meeting Monday. April 30, Friendship auction committee chairman Marilyn Loucks, New Paris, heard progress reports from 25 committees. In addition, she learned about the donation of many more items to the May 19 potpourri sale and quilt auction at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds in Goshen. Among the additional donations are a used John Deere riding mower, a stereo, pool table, antique coffee grinder, a new humidifier, 10 bushels of 90-day maturity seed corn, old glass beer steins and a hay cart with track. An open house will be held Friday, May 18, from 5 to 8 p.m. in order to view the quilts and other items to be sold. The burglary of a rural North Webster residence is our crime of the week. Between January 25 and May 1, 1984, entry was gained to a home located near Eden Shores; by entering the garage and breaking a window leading to a bedroom. Taken in this burglary were a large oak gun cabinet with glass doors, a steijeo and speakers, a household sweeper, some coffee tables and lamps and some small power tools.
