BL#•! 50TH ANNIVERSARY - Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Ritchie of the North Webster area will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, May 6, with an open house in the North Webster United Methodist Church from 2-4 p.m. Ritchie and the former Carol E. Browning were married on February 15. 1934. at North Manchester. They have lived in this area since 1953. Ritchie was associated with the schools until his retirement in June 1976. Hosts for the open house will be their two daughters and spouses, six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. The couple requests friends and relatives attendance as the only gifts. «
Meals for older Americans
Meals for Older Americans are served each day at the following locations: The American Legion, SR 13 Syracuse; the Pierceton Community Building; Mentone Community Room in the fire station; and the Retired Tigers Center, 320 W. Main. Warsaw. Meals for Older Americans is for persons 60 years or older and is a chance to meet new friends and enjoy hot/nutritional meals. , The sites are opened several hours each day including noon for programs. Meals for Older Americans is not associated with welfare but is for the promotion for better health for the older population. Donations are accepted for the meals. The site directors request al] persons planning on attending the meals to make reservations by 1 p.m. the day prior to attending. Ann Rush becomes bride of Patrick L. Harding March 24
Ann Rush, Valparaiso, became the bride of Patrick L. Harding, Hebron in a double-ring ceremony Saturday, March 24, at 1 p.m. in St. Anne’s, Beverly Shores. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rush, Syracuse, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and? Mrs. Harry Harding, Michigan City. Father Christopher Pickloa officiated the ceremony in the presence of 35 guests. The bride’s wedding band belonged to her great-grandmother. The church altar was decorated with white potted cyclamen and blue hyacinth. Mrs. David (Lois Hamm), Thurner, was the organist and played the traditional wedding music. The bride was given in marriage by her parents and wore a floor-length egg shell qiana gown with a jewel neckline. She wore a flower cluster with her hair tied back. She carried a single blue silk rose. The maid of honor, Barbara Rush, Indianapolis, wore a powder blue chiffon gown and carried a single white-blue tipped rose. Her headdress was a flower barrette. Richard Harding, Chesterton, was the best man and Bill Rush, Fort Wayne and Thomas Harding, Michigan City, served as the ushers. The bride’s mother wore a blue-gray with navy stripe, polyester street-length dress and the bridegroom’s mother wore a powder blue poly-knit,

A buffet-dinner reception for 200 guests was held in the Valparaiso American Legion Hall at 4:30 p.m. followed by a dance. Mrs. Bill (Debbie) Rush, sister-in-law of the bride and Mrs. Richard (Beverly) Harding, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, served the cake. Ruth Ann Fowler, Indianapolis, and Susan Fowler, Fort Wayne, served the punch. Both girls are cousins of the bride. Following a wedding trip to Fort Meyers and the Epcot Center, Florida, the couple is now residing in Valparaiso. The bride is a graduate of Wawasee High School, Manchester College and has a master’s degrees from Valparaiso and Indiana State Universities. She is a social studies teacher at Boone Grove High School and a member of Kappa Delta Gamma. Her husband is a graduate of Portage High School and Tri-State College, Angola, with a master’s degree from Purdue University. He served three years in the military service and is a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He is a social studies teacher at Hebron High School and a member of the Army Reserves. Bunco club meets at Hennings Mrs. James Mench, Hunnicutt Grove, Syracuse, was hostess to the Twilighters Bunco Club for the April 18 meeting. Mrs. Eugene Henning assisted. Birthday gifts were received by Mrs. Henning, Mrs. Don Niles and Mrs. Charles Searfoss. Anniversary gifts were given to Mrs. Tim Darr and Mrs. Bill Eyer. High prize was won by Mrs. Warren Benson; low, by Mrs. Margaret Whitehead; travel, by Mrs. Robert Moser and Mrs. Whitehead won the door prize. There were 12 members and two guests present. The guests were Mrs. Dallas Kitson and Mrs. Darrel Parker. Mrs. Gene Kitson will be the hostess for the May meeting. Barbara Lehman is guest speaker Barbara Lehman, attorney with Legal Services, was guest speaker at the Kosciusko County Council on Aged and Aging meeting Wednesday, April 25, in Center Lake pavilion, Warsaw. She spoke on the work of the service and quoted two local cases. She was introduced by Sue Smith of Legal Services. Mrs. James Heaton opened the meeting and Charleen Bradbury read the minutes of the March meeting, with Carlyle Mason giving the treasurer s report. Senior Citizens clubs reported from Warsaw, Milford and Syracuse. The nutrition committee members reported they had visited the Mentone nutrition site and Jim Heaton reported on transportation. Bob Ashman, of Mobile Meals, said the new route to Syracuse is doing well Each member received the new changes in the by-laws from mason to be approved at a later date. Mrs. Heaton announced the county queen will be crowned on Wednesday, May 23, in the pavilion. A short meeting of the council will be held at that time with the meeting beginning at 7 p.m. Mrs. Heaton has been appointed chairwoman for Qfe five-county area in the queen contest. Mason offered prayer prior to the lunch being served. The next county meeting will be Thursday, May 17, "from 2-3 p.m. in the REMC building small room, Warsaw.

Vera Schell honored on 94th birthday
Vera Schell was honored on her 94th birthday when the Home Arts Club met a the home of Mary Reed for a pot-luck dinner. Leon and Doris Kubacki of Pierceton have been named that town’s “Co-Citizens of the Year” for 1983. 0 The presentation was made at the annual Chamber of Commerce banquet April 25 at the Pierceton Elementary School gym. There have been “Citizens of the Year” named at Pierceton since 1974. The selection of the Kubackis marks the second time a husband and wife have both been chosen for the honor. Charles and Betty Cone were the first, in 1977. Nearly 140 people attended the banquet at which Fred Hardy, last year’s chamber president, was given a special award by currjent chamber president, Rosemary Parsons. Honored too Were the teachers of the Pierceton community for their work in instructing some 800 local students. The Kubackis have six grown sons and have lived in the Pierceton area more thah’ 30 years. He is president of the Pierceton State Bank.

Mrs. Kubacki has been active in civic affairs including the Heart Fund, Cancer Society and the Pierceton Home Economics Club. She has also done volunteer work for the Red Cross, Mobile Meals and Red Cross Bloodmobile. Kubacki has served on the Pierceton Town Board, the Whitko School Board and on other civic and church boards. The banquet was prepared by Shirley Kreger and the school cooks. Entertainment was provided by the Chain-O-Lakes Barbershop Chorus of Columbia City. Organizational meeting set An organizational meeting to plan the Wawasee High School Class of 1979 five-year reunion will be Thursday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the home of Andy Brown.
