Milford man killed in U.S. 6 accident
Jeffrey L. Burket, 23, r 1, Milford, lost his life Sunday, April 8, when a car driven by James B. Sizemore went left of center on US 6 and collided with Burket’s vehicle. I Burket was pronounced dead at the scene by Marshall County Coroner Dean Byers. Death was caused from multiple injuries suffered in the mishap. Sizemore was taken to the Marshall County Jail for causing a death while being intoxicated. According to police officials, Sizemore had taken his eyes off the road to adjust his tape deck when his vehicle struck Burket’s. A passenger in the Burket vehicle, David M. Cooper, 23, Charlottesville, Va., was treated and released from Bremen Community Hospital. Cooper suffered minor injuries in the accident. Sizemore suffered facial cuts in the crash that also resulted in $6,000 damage to Burket’s car Sizemore was treated and released from Bremen Community Hospital. Funeral services for Burket will be held at the convenience of his family. Rev. Norman E. Huff will officiate at the service in Tyrone, Pa. Born Sept. 18, 1960. the Alandisville. Pa., native had resided Dallas Hartzell Former Nappanee Resident Dallas Hartzell, 86, formerly of Nappanee, died in Lakeland Loving Care Center, Milford, at 10 p.m. Tuesday. April 3. The son of William and Ida (Jones) Hartzell, he was born in Scott Township, Kosciusko County on Oct 19. 1897 He married Surelda G. Huffman Feb 9. 1918 She died July 7, 1969 A retired employee of Coppes Kitchens. Nappanee, he was a former member of the Millwood Chapel Church Surviving are: two sons, Kenneth Hartzell, Edwalrdsburg. Mich., and Floyd Hartzell, Goshen; one daughter. Mrs Betty Wilson. Nappanee; 16 grandchildren; 23 greatgrandchildren; and one brother. Donald Hartzell. Etna Green. The funeral was held Saturday in the Thompson & Yoder Funeral Home. Nappanee, with burial in Stony Point cemetery.

in Milford for one year. He was the son of Alton and Isabelle Burket. Employed as a purchasing agent with Flexsteel, Inc., New Paris, he had been a member of the Highland Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, Pa. He is survived by his parents, of Alandisville; a sister, Laura DeMuth, of Louisville, Ky.; and a brother, Adam Burket, also of Alandisville. Burial will be in the Burket cemetery, near Alandisville. Memorials may be made to the U.S. Olympic Committee. Russell Warren Retired Farmer Russell D. (“Buss”) Warren, 76, of 16447 Elm Rd., Bourbon, died at his home at 1:57 a.m. Wednesday, April 4. He had been in failing health for 10 years. Born May 25, 1907, near Tippecanoe and a lifetime resident of Tippecanoe Township, he was the son of Jesse and Xoa (Miller) Warren. He was united in marriage to Nora Hall July 17,1926, in Plymouth. In additon to his wife, other survivors include, three daughters, Esther Berger, Plymouth, Catherine Pool, Warsaw, and Eileen Bessinger, Leesburg; four sons, Dale Warren, Argos, DeWayne Warren, Lebanon, Jesse Warren, Knoxville, Tenn., and Welcome Warren. Bourbon; 25 grandchildren; and many greatgrandchildren. Services were held Friday in the First Baptist Chruch, Argos, with burial in the Tippecanoe cemetery. V. Alfred Stump Printer Services for V. Burial was in the Union Center Cemetery He was born 2, 1912. in Union Township, and was married to Isabelle Lopp Aug. 30, 1935. Stump assisted in early development and management of the Evangel Press, Nappanee, was employed with Mutschler
Brothers, and was plant supervisor with Cromwell Print Corp., Albany, N.Y., from 1955 to 1977. He returned to Nappanee following his retirement. He had been a lifetime member of the Graphic Arts International Union, was state vice president of the Jaycees and a member of the Lutheran Church. Surviving are: his wife; two daughters, Mrs. James (Cynthia) Lanier, Alamosa, Colo., and Susan Molloy, Aurora, Colo.; a son, John, Alamosa, Colo.; four grandchildren; his stepmother, Mrs. Jacob (Dorothy) Bucher, Milford; three sisters, Ruth Garrison and Heleyn Schroll, both of Colorado Springs, and Grace Freid, Allentown, Pa.; and five brothers, James H., Gary, and David, all of Medford, Ore., Philip M., Hutchinson, Kan., Robert, Goshen, and Charles, Nappanee. Noble Rouch Refired Yeocher Noble J. Rouch, 76, died at Goshen General Hospital at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, April 7. He had been ill for three weeks. A native of Lakeville, he was born June 13,1907, the son of John Henry and Susie Florence (Mullet) Rouch. He married Dorothy Rohrer June 15, 1930. She died in 1983. He was a retired Lakeville area school teacher, and the owner of Economy Book Binding Co. Surviving are: six daughters,

He died at 8 p.m. Friday, March 23, when a logging truck caught the back wheels of his car. His car was demolished, killing him instantly. The fatal accident occured on the highway in Federal River Canyon. Born near Leesburg, May 11, 1905, he was the son of Lincoln and Jessie (Kirkendall) Stuart. He had moved to California in 1923. Auer’s wife, Carolyn, said Tuesday he is feeling much better but, should surgery be indicated, she’s hoping he can be brought back to Indiana for the operation. The body was cremated in California. Lucille Emsberger St. Marie's Church —— Mrs. Lucille I. Emsberger, 77, Goshen, died in Fountainview Place, where she was admitted Dec. 23, 1983, at 7:40 a m. Monday, April 9. Born July 10,1906, in Syracuse, she was the daughter of Floyd and Grace (Ray) Price. She was married May 9, 1925, to Jesse J. Emsberger. Having lived in the Goshen area most of her life, she was past president of the Mother’s of World War II Auxiliary and St. Mark’s United Methodist Chruch. Surviving are: her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Will (Marcille) Greenwood, Seattle; two sons, Richard, Goshen, and Dwight, Visalia, Calif.; nine grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Edith) Stump, North Webster, and Mrs. Harlan (Maxine) Ditmars, Goshen; and a brother, Guy, Lynn. ■aSherman Collins Rathadl Fmw ' Sherman W. Collins, 82, New Paris, died unexpectedly in his home at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 11. Bom near Milford, he was the son of Ira and Elsa (Jacobs) Collins. He was married to Charlotte Burgett in 1922. She died in 1970. In 1977 he was united in marriage to Freeda Neff. He had retired as a farmer and as a mill operator. Surviving are: his wife; one son, Basil, Nappanee; four daughters, Mrs. Martin (Deloris) Engolf and Mrs. Gerald (Joyce) Lynch, both of Nappanee, Miss Ramona Collins of Pilgrim Manor, Plymouth, and Mrs. Robert (Marlene) Long, Bremen; two stepsons, Conrad Neff, New Paris, and Steven Neff, Warsaw; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Gordon (Christine) Pendleton, Corydon, and Mrs. James (Ileta) Harley, Warminister, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; one brother, Alfred, Nappanee; and one sister, Mrs. Florence Sumpter, Elkhart. Doors pried open at Ivy Hut A cook at Ivy Hut Restaurant, SR 13S Syracuse, notified Syracuse Police after finding the doors had been pried open. The police were notified at 4:25 a m. on Monday, April 9. Syracuse Police are continuing their investigation into the matter. Reportedly all that was taken were two cartons of cigarettes. Shoplifter at Augsburger's Syracuse Police officer Dan Gallmeier arrested Joseph G. Endres, Jr., 1329 Swinney Ave., Fort Wayne, on a charge of public intoxication and conversion following an incident at Augsburger’s Super-Valu, Saturday morning. Syracuse Police Were notified by an employee of the grocery store of a shoplifter at 3:30 a.m.‘ Endres allegedly opened a one-half pound Land-O-Frost sliced ham and ate the meat while inside the store. The value of the ham was $1.50. Enres was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail and formal charges were made Monday, April 9.

As more is learned about the human body, health professsonals are becoming convinced that some problems can be prevented or their effects reduced in severity. The “21 ALIVE Focus on Health,” co-sponsored by the Warsaw Business and Professional Women’s Club and the Kosciusko County Chapter of the American Red Cross, will be held on Saturday, April 14, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Warsaw Community High School. All persons 18 years of age or over may take advantage of the “Focus on Health” with no charge to the individual unless one chooses to have the optional blood chemistry tests. The blood chemistry includes testing for signs of dia*betes, cholesterol, kidney and liver diseases, gout, protein, triglycerides, iron and thyroid. The screening tests available at the site include the taking of registration and health history, height and weight and bloou pressure; tests for anemia, hearing. visual acuity, oral cancer, glaucoma (optic pressure), and determining blood type. Persons may also receive a coronary heart risk evaluation and a health
