S K - . f> 21 HELPING OUT — Thursday, March 29, was the day when 33 men around the Milford area got together and helped out Mrs. Ronn Beer with jobs around the farm. Helping out in the day-long project were: Rick Wuthrich. Doug Lemna, Bob Burht. Don Burht, Jesse Beer, Sam Beer, Lee Beer. Doug Weisser, Wayne Sholtey, Morris Miller, Morris Beer, Howard Beer. AREA RESIDENTS may conduct postal business outdoors this spring, Postmaster Charles Spillman said today. “Our rural delivery vehicles function as post offices-on-wheels,” explained Spillman. "As rural customers catch ‘spring fever,’ we’ll be there to serve them." Rural carrier sen ices include stamp 'and money order sales, parcel pickup and acceptance of registered and Express Mail. Business transactions are completed on-the-spot, at delivery stops along each route “These ‘open-air post offices' are a world apart from their city counterparts,” said Spillman, "yet they bring a wide range of postal services right to your door.” “Rural delivery developed a personal touch in its early days,” he sdid, “bringing families food, newspapers, tobacco, dry goods, and items that were otherwise difficult to get. “Today, for some older residents who live in secluded areas, rural carriers serve as a lifeline to the outside world, bringing food to shut-ins during emergencies or alerting the telephone company when a storm interrupts service. “Likewise, on a clear spring day. the rural carrier's post office-on-wheels makes sure some of that personal touch remains. Profits from the day will be used to help send the WHS choir and orchestra to the contest in Nashville. Tenn., on May 5 -7. HOW ABOUT last week end! Many enjoyed the warm spring days and many took advantage of them to do some yard work. Others reported seeing their first robin of the spring. It was a good send off for youngsters to begin their spring break. COMMUNITY CHOIR practice will be held tonight (Wednesday) and on Wednesday, April 18, at 8:15 p.m. at the Christian Church for the choir singing at the Good Friday Community services on April 20. The armed robbery of the Pacer Service Station in Warsaw is our Crime of the Week. On January 6, at 8:05 p.m., an unknown person wearing a black ski mask pointed a handgun at the station attendant and demanded all of his money, then fled on foot. The perpetrator is described as a white male, five feet-seven inches in height, and approximately 145 pounds, with light to medium complexion. If you have information on this robbery. Crime Stoppers wants to hear from you. They will pay up to SI,OOO if your information leads to an arrest or indictment.
