10 YEARS AGO, JAN. 30,1974 A Jaycees is being formed in Milford with the Plymouth club serving as the parent club. At a meeting Monday night officers were electer. Mr. and Mrs. Hector Esquivel of Milford are the parents of a daughter bom at the Goshen hospital on Wednesday, Jan. 23. The Columbian Reading Circle of Milford met Monday evening in the home of Edith I. Baumgartner for a night of “Fondue Fun.” Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wolferman of Milford are the parents of a daughter, Kyla Joy, born Wednesday, Jan. 23 at the Goshen Hospital. Kyla Joy was born at 1:53 a.m. and tipped the scales at eight pounds nine ounces and was 20 inches long. 20 YEARS AGO, JAN. 30.1964 The vocal winners under the direction of Joseph Judkins will present the program at the February meeting of the Milford Parent-Teachers Organization. The meeting will be held at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, in the all purpose room of the elementary school. a Tile hospitality committee for the evening will be composed of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Treesh, Mr. and Mrs. Kurman Jessop, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Yoder, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Neff. Milford School will have five ensembles and 32 soloists at the ensemble-solo contest at Elkhart nex Saturday morning and afternoon. Otto Beer and Eugene Felkner will improve the property line between their two lots this spring with a row of privet hedge. The Beer farm consisting of over 40 acres and located just east of the corporate city limits of Milford, has been sold to Louis Rassi. This tract of land was formerly owned by James Arnold. 50 YEARS AGO, FEB. 1,1934 Roy Treesh attended a road meeting in LaFayette last week. Milford A.C. lost a good game of basketball to Dale Crooke’s speedy Leesburg team Thursday night after leading up until the last few minutes of play. The score was 38 to 30. A stranger came into town Monday morning with his ears badly frozen. He had been walking on SR 15 and had stopped at New Paris where he traded his derby hat for a cap that would protect his ears, but he waited too long and it was necessary for him

to see a doctor when he reached Milford. A marriage license was issued to Verl A. Zart of Warsaw, and Irene May of Milford, Saturday. Cardiovascular ( workshop set The second part of a workshop for nurses on health of the cardiovascular system will be held Wednesday, Feb. 8, at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in South Bend. The workshop is approved by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. Sponsored by Goshen College’s continuing education in nursing program, the workshop is open to registered nurses in all areas and specialties of practice who attended the first part of this workshop on January 25 and 26 for who attended an earlier session covering similar material. Participants will identify component parts of various heart sounds, chart and correlate heart sounds with clinical observations and E.K.G. findings and write nursing diagnoses and care plans from case studies of patients with abnormal heart sounds. Faculty for the workshop will include Marti Pinnyei, a clinical nurse specialist at St. Joseph’s, and Kathi Marchiondo, a cardiovascular clinical nurse specialist at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. Education, as well as the drug education suasions. All programs are fully instructed to rooms created to reinforce preventive concepts and to fit the needs and the levels of each participating group. For lunch, the students stopped at a fast food restaurant which was the only cost of the trip. MEMBERS OF the Wawasee High School class of 1975 are beginning to think of their 10th anniversary reunion and at least one class member, Ron Diel of 823 Griswold, Apt. 3-22, Fort Wayne, Ind. 49895 (call me, he says, at 424-9979 or days at 482-5919 and leave message) wants persons working on the reunion to contact him. Jon Owens served as vice president and Anne Mangas was secretary of the class. MARLENE EVANS is still wearing her arm in a sling, the results of a shoulder injury suffered during a recent ski outing. She hasn’t let her injury sideline her, however, as she can still be found daily at work in the family store.
