Shively wins TV Gary Shively was the winner of the television set from the birthday celebration of Village Brandh of the State Bank of Syracuse and Milly Ginger, manager. The birthday celebration was held December 5-10. Winners of the 10 silver dollars in the “I Love Syracuse” contest were Janet McKinstry, Ellie Carr, Georgia Buster, Jennifer Hughes, Judy Bell, Tom McKinstry and Wilber Frederick. During the celebration the bank received numerous birthday messages, both for Mrs. Ginger and for the branch. The bank gave awav a total of 1,512 cookies; 70 silver dollars; a 19-inch RCA color, cable-ready television; and 160 “I Love Syracuse” buttons during the week-long celebration. In order to receive an “I Love Syracuse” button the customer had to say “I Love Syracuse.” No purchase was necessary to win the television and the winner did not have to be present. DEC. 11.1953 Don Mishler and Eugene Brown of Syracuse were among approximately 200 farmers from this section of the country who visited the Purina Research Farm at Gary Summit, Mo., last week and spent the following day touring the company’s mills and research laboratories in Saint Louis. Incumbent President B. Lee Fischer was returned to office by a majority vote of the chamber of commerce membership when they held their monthly meeting Tuesday evening. Under the terms of the new by-laws, office holders are permitted a two-year tenure in office. Mr. and Mrs. Jap Jones left Monday for Lauderdale by the Sea, Florida, where they will spend the winter.
