James Freed Retired Weathedieod Employee James M. Freed, 67, r 4, Syracuse, died at Elkhart General Hospital at 6 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 24, from complications of lung cancer. He had lived in Syracuse 20 years coming from Ligonier. On August 29, 1964, he married Zoa Frymier Charters, who survives. He was retired from Weatherhead Co., Syracuse was a member of the Syracuse VFW. Surviving in addition to his wife are: one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Elsie) Minier, Goshen; two sons, James R. Freed, Manatowoc, Wis., and James D. Freed, Salido, Colo.; two stepdaughters, Patricia Williams and Priscilla Sicks, both of Syracuse; three step-sons, Thomas Charters, Charleston, West Va., Dan Sicks, North Webster and Philip Charters, Milford; 15 grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; one sister, Leta Francar, Manitowoc, Wis.; and one brother, Leo Freed, Huntington. Services were held Sunday at the Harris Funeral Home, with interment in the Syracuse cemetery. Born July 26, 1892, in Green County to Jehu W. and Ardella (Haines) Hannum, he had resided in Columbia City feu* the past nine years. Surviving are: two daughters, Lois Lundy, North Webster and Adrian Chambers, Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah H. Freeda (Jackson) Hannum. Burial will be in Switz City cemetery. Lonie Coy Penn Control Retiree Lonie Coy, 74, 101 Unger, Logansport, mother and stepmother of a number of Syracuse and Milford residents, died in Memorial Hospital, Logansport, at 12:23 a m. Friday, Nov. 25. She was born on January 6, 1909, in Camden to Nathean and Lillie (Mikels) Taylor. She was married to Burt Randolph who died on February 23 1956, Harvey Wysong, who died on March 8, 1970, and Arthur Coy, who died October 7,1977. Mrs. Coy retired in 1971 from Penn Controls, Goshen, and was a member of the Hillcraft Baptist Church, Logansport. She had lived in Logansport for several years. Survivors include: one son, Bert Randolph, Goshen; four daughters, Litta Hylton, Goshen, Doris England, Syracuse, Shirley Pace, Apache Junction, Ariz.,
and Leona Peters, Logansport; four stepsons, Jim Wysong, Calif., Marving Coy, Arlington, Texas, and Don Wysong and Dick Wysong, New Paris; four stepdaughters, Wanda Brown, Goshen, Betty Hire, Ligonier, Virginia Bess, Milford and Patty Coy, Mentone; three sisters, Ida Randolph, Goshen, Maudie Meek, Plymouth and Irene Cripe, Goshen; two brothers, Charley Taylor and Jerry Taylor, both of Goshen; 17 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday in the Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport, with burial > in the Burrows cemetery, Burrows. Donald Om Tax Accountant Donald E. Orn, 77, Fort Wayne, died in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, at 1:30 a m. 28, following an extended illness. Orn was born in Milford May 14, 1905, to Thomas and Leia (Howenstein) Orn. He was married to Naomi Heddens who survives. Orn was a tax accountant in Fort Wayne, where he had spent most of his life. He was the founder of the Donald E. Orn Tax Consultant Agency. He was an active member and an elder of the Trinity United Methodist Church and a member of the National Association of Accountants. Surviving are: one son. Max Orn, Fort Wayne; one brother, Harold Orn, Omack, Wash.; one sister, Ruth Hess, Leesburg; four grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. Services were held Wednesday at the Sloan Funeral Home. A second service followed at the Mishler Funeral Home in Milford, with interment in the Milford cemetery. Preferred memorials include the Trinity United Methodist Church. Nappanee, to John A. and Alvina (Doering) Sloat. She was the last surviving member of the Nappanee High School class of 1909. She was the wife of Rev. Guy Randolph Champlin who preceded her in death. Mrs. Champlin was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nappanee. Survivors include: a son, John W., Albuquerque; two grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Ralph (Vera) Arnott, Syracuse. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. He was born in Syracuse on May 7,1904, to Albert and Mary (Strieby) Hibner. On Oct. 18, 1924, he married Berl V. Green in Saint Joseph, Mich. Hibner has lived in South Bend since 1924. Hibner is a retired credit manager for Levy-Ward Wholesale Grocery Company, a member of the Elks Lodge 235 South Bend and American Turners. He was a member at All Saints Episcopal Church, Lake Wawasee. Additional survivors include his wife, Berl, and two grandsons, Bill and John. Friends may call from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today (Wednesday) in the Wesheimer Funeral Home, South Bend, and 2-4,7-9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, in the Harris Funeral Home, Syracuse. Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at All Saints Episcopal Church. Rev. David Hyndman will officiate and burial will be in Syracuse cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Thelma Emmans, 68, r 5 Syracuse, was taken to Goshen Hospital after falling at her home, Saturday, Nov. 26. The Syracuse EMS was called at 10:45 a.m. Nastinira Meguery, 75, r 5 Greenhaus Apartments, Syracuse, suffered chest pains on Sunday, Nov. 27. Change taken from home Syracuse Police are investigating the theft of $135 and a miscellaneous amount of loose change from the residence of Vicky Morris, 713 S. Huntington St. Mrs. Morris contacted police at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday, Nov.<23, after she found the container, in which the money was stored, laying on her bed. Syracuse Police believe entry was gained by using a set of keys recently reported stolen. No sign of forced entry was found. Syracuse Police Officer Corky Wong made the initial investigation. Cramwell woman injured in 1-car on old SR 8 Joanna D. Ramsen, 21, r 1 Cromwell, sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident Wednesday, Nov. 23. The mishap occurred at 7;45 p.m. on Old SR 8 at Marineland Gardens. Kosciusko County Patrolman Steve Knispel reported the 1979 Chevrolet Camaro failed to negotiate a curve and landed in a ditch. Joanna Hansen told police she did not see the curve until it was too late. She was transported to Goshen Hospital by Syracuse Eniergency Medical Service.
