County 4-H banquet honors adult leaders
A total of 43 Kosciusko County 4-H Adult Leaders were recognized with a banquet and presentation of pins, planning calendars and leadership certificates on Monday, Oct 31, at the 4-H Adult Leaders’ Banquet held at the Atwood Community Building in Atwood. The leaders and their guests were presented a program by Miss Lisa Kaiser and Miss Betty Smith, 4-H public speaking participants. This year’s banquet meal was prepared by Vic Virgil representing the county Pork Producers and Dee-Erickson-Hoyt. The meal and evening’s program was sponsored by the county REMC and Farm Bureau Inc. Each leader was presented a 1984 planning calendar provided by the Farmers Mutual Relief Association with leadership certificates and pins were provided by the county 4-H council. Recreational leaders — Becky Flannery and Julie Kaiser. New business discussed consisted of suggestions for new activities, Junior Leaders and donating money to the 4-H office. Following elections, demonstrations were given on crosstitch and sewing on buttons by Renee and Rita Beer, respectively. The 4-H pledge was led by Shannon Angle. The pledge to the flag was led by Carl Rouch. Refreshments were then served by the hostesses, Renee and Rita Beer. A Christmas shopping trip was planned for the December 10 meeting.

Dorreen Darr is October bride of Douglas Ruch
Doreen Darr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray E. Darr of r 2 Syracuse, and Douglas L. Ruch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ruch of r 1 Milford, were united in marriage on October 15 in the New Salem Church of the Brethren near Milford. Rev. Glen Byers, pastor of the church, officiated at the dou-ble-ring, candlelight ceremony. David Brown and Denise Brookins sang “Wedding Song” and “God Has Given You To Me.” The organist was Sue Lisor and the pianist was Phyllis Kirkdoffer. The bride wore a long A-line gown of white organza over taffeta with silk Venice lace and sead pearls accented the bodice nd court-length train. Matching j ’ ■ TO WED NOVEMBER 26 - Gwendolyn Williams and Thomas Clouse will be united in marriage on November 26 in the Church of God at Syracuse. Rev. Michael Johnson will officiate. The bride-elect is the daughter of Quentin Williams and the late Effie Mae (Sprague) Williams of Corona. Calif. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Williams of Syracuse. She is a graduate of Wawasee High School. Clouse, the son of Mr. and Mrs, Richard Clouse of Auburn, is a graduate of DeKalb High School. He is employed by the city of Auburn. Leslie Darr, sister-in-law of the bride, r 2 Syracuse; Rhonda Hapner, r 3 Syracuse, and Denise Smith, r 1 North Webster, were bridesmaids. They wore high neckline dresses of dusty rose polyester knit with bodice and cape of d’esprit lace. They carried hurricane lights with arrangements of white daisies, burgundy roses and baby’s breath, accented with burgundy ribbons. Starr Grady and Crystal GfaHy were the flower girls. They wore dresses that matched those worn by the bridesmaids. They wore rings of pink roses and baby’s breath in their hair. Mathew Grady, nephew of the bride, served as ring bearer. Attending the bridegroom as best man was Jeff Hall, r 2 Leesburg; Roy Teeple, r 2 Milford; Dennis Darr, brother of the bride, r 2 Syracuse; and Marie Grady, brother-in-law of the bride, r 2 North Webster, were groomsmen. Ushers were Steve Yoder of Milford and Nick Hunsberger of Syracuse. The bride’s mother wore a dress of dusty rose and a lavender dress was worn by the mother of the bridegroom. Both wore corsages of burgundy roses and pink carnations. Serving at the reception were Treva Borkholder, Cheryl Krehl, Lori Kammerer and Brenda Servers. The three-tiered cake and four-arm tier around the bottom were adorned with pink roses and rosebuds and were decorated by Denise Grady. A graduate of Wawasee High School, the bride is now a secretary at Wheel-Master, Inc., in New Paris. Also a graduate of Wawasee High School, the bridegroom is an auto mechanic at Ruch Service in Milford. The couple spent a week in Florida and now resides at r 1 Milford.
