Girls to ploy three gomes in first week

this year. Coach Dale Brannock is going to rely on that quickness to carry his team through what he has termed a “rebuilding year.” “We don’t have the big people like we have had in the past.” he commented. “We are not as big and not quite as aggressive as we have been.”

Brannock’s height situation is due to the departure of three gifted front line players. Maude Packer, Carol Walker and Cheryl Walker have all been lost to graduation. However, Brannock is not spending his time bemoaning his losses. He has enough talent this year to occupy his thoughts.
“We are going to have some people come on and prove some things,” he said. “We were 11 or 12 deep last year, so some of the returning players saw a lot of action last year.” Brannock has 6-0 Marcia Sorenson back to anchor the inside game. “Marcia is going to step out of Packer’s shadow to
become the force inside.” he said. She will be joined up front by Christy Speicher. The 5-10 junior has worked hard in the off season and Brannock is expecting her to be a big asset. “She is a hard worker.” he noted. The real story, however, is in (Continued on page 7)
