1983 year. There are more than 4,000 members elgible for the award. Mitchell and his wife Karen, reside at Lake Tippecanoe and have one son, Brad, a junior at Wawasee High School.
The award is given to the squadron with the highest cumulative rating on a number of rating criteria throughout the year. His 122 tactical fighter wing is generally considered the finest reserve F-4 wing in the country.

. MIL Mm NEW GOSHEN COLLEGE PRESIDENT — Dr. Victor E. Stoltzfus. right, will become the 11th president of Goshen College on July 1.1984. He will succeed Dr. J. Lawrence Burkholder, left, who has served as president since 1971. Stoltzfus, who is currently professor of sociology and dean at the college, was unanimously elected to the presidency by the Mennonite Board of Education early last week. His appointment was made public in a press conference last Friday. The president-elect, originally from Martinsburg. Pa., received a BA in social science from Goshen College in 1956 and a BD in theology from Goshen Biblical Seminary in 1959. He holds an MA in sociology from Kent State University and a PhD in sociology from Pennsylvania State University. He has served on the faculty at Youngstown (Ohio) University. Pennsylvania State University and Eastern Illinois University. Charles W. Ainley, Goshen attorney and chairman of the Goshen College President's Advisory Board, said. "Victor Stoltzfus comes to the presidency of Goshen College with an excellent academic background, including his recent service as dean of the college. During the short time he has been in Goshen he and his family have made many friends. He will have the full support of our community as he undertakes the arduous task of leading the college as president." "The presidency of Goshen College is a trust from the Mennonite Church; our many friends in Elkhart County; and the college faculty, students and alumni," Stoltzfus said. “Many of our faculty members have taught for two generations and are respected for who they are and what they teach. Marie (my wife) and 1 are grateful for the contributions of past generations of faculty and administrators and are eager to do our part as we look to the future." The Stoltzfuses are the parents of three daughters. Kristin.. Rebecca and Malinda. They are members of the Assembly Mennonite Congregation in Goshen.
During the course, students were trained in the techniques of road and bridge building, camouflage and demolition. They also received instruction in combat squad tactics as well as in the use of infantry weapons.

ROBERT GRAFF J Marine Lance Corporal Robert J. Graff, stationed with the Seventh Communication Battalion has been awarded the Meritorious Mast for being selected as marine-of-the-Quarter for Oc-tober-December, 1983. Cpl. Graff’s selection was based on his professional attitude, discipline, loyalty and devotion to duty. Competition for this award is keen and the choice was made I from the over 450 enlisted personnel. Cpl. Graff, a graduate of Syracuse Christian School, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Graff, 13359 CR 50, Syracuse. The Graff’s received a letter of Commendation from Lt. Col. L.R. Jamieson in recognition for this achievement. PHILIP BONTRAGER Marine Pfc. Philip Bontrager, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bontrager of 71674 CR 133 Syracuse, has completed the infantry combat training course at the Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, Calif. During the six week course, he received classroom instruction and participated in field exercises involving infantry tactics; the construction and camouflage of fighting positions; and the use of mines, demolitions and in-tra-company equipment.

The Silver Thimble Club of Milford held an election of officers at their November meeting in the home of Mrs. Ray Haab, 4 Achievement record workshop By RONALD W. HOYT Extension Agent All 4-H members, leaders and parents are invited to attend a 4-H Achievement Record Workshop to be held on Thurs day, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the basement meeting room of the Justice Building. The workshop will offer assistance to 4-H members in completing the record forms, choosing a category to report in and will answer any specific problems or concerns the 4-H member may have. The workshop will utilize portions of a 4-H Achievement Record workshop offered via IHETS (Indiana Higher Education Telecommunications System) earlier in the year. Also there will be sample record books on hand, past judges to help and National 4-H support materials to assist each and every 4-H member who attends. Each 4-H member who plans to participate in the Achievement Record activity is urged to attend this very helpful workshop.
