Spikers get victory No. 13
The Warrior spikers notched victory number 13 last night with a 15-5,15-11 defeat of the Bethany Christian Braves. Sandy Payne opened the first game with five straight service points and the Warriors never looked back. Wawasee moved out to a commanding 11-2 lead behind a good display of center hitting. Shelly Harris and Marcia Sorensen added kill spikes and the Braves found themselves down 13-3; down too far to recover. Bethany came out ready to roll in the second game and jumped to a quick 2-0 lead. The teams traded points for five service rounds after which the Braves held a 4-3 lead. However, that was all the scoring Bethany was to do for a long stretch. Wawasee sprinted ahead with 11 straight points to put the game out of reach. The Braves rallied from 14-5 to 14-11, but it was a case of“ too little, too late. ” Last Thursday, the Warriors were upset by NLC rival Goshen. The 12-15,13-14 loss was the first NLC blemish on the team's record. Tammy Welbourn led the team in serving with a perfect eight for
