Notice Os 1984 Tax Rates To Be Charged Notic* Is hweby given the taxpayers of Kosciusko County, Indiana that as a result of action by the Tax Adjustment Board of Kosciusko County, on the budgets a levies submitted by publication of this notice. All appeals shall be in writing and addressed to the State Board of Tax Commissioners, naming spec, fically the items in the budget and the fax rates which are the tax levying officials of the several units of the county, rates of taxation on each one hundred dollars of valuation on the taxable property hereinafter tabulated by faxing units, now objected to, and shall be filed with the County Auditor. This notice is given in compliance with Chapter 119, Acts of 1937 as amended by Chapter 41, Acts of 1947. and Burns 44-1914, and stand charged, subject to appeal, for state, county or other purposes stated, payable In the year 1984. the rights of taxpayers and the manner of filing objections are set forth therein. Quackers hit by thieves Quackers Lounge in Syracuse was the target of thieves sometime between 2:30 p.m. Sunday and 12:08 p.m. on Monday. One or more persons entered the establishment through undetermined.means, and proceeded to take SSO in change from the cash register, a revolver and liquor. There was an unsuccessful attempt to crack the bar’s safe. Total cost of stolen good and damage amounted to SI,OOO. Syracuse officers Warren Swartz and Corky Wong and Indiana State Police detective Ray Carich investigated the theft. Vandals hit car wash Vandals did an estimated SSO damage to a stall at the Syracuse Car Wash, manager Carl Reinholdt reported to pollice recently. The incident, which was discovered on October 2, and included the cutting of a water hose. Keys taken from car Kathy Gonzales, 601 N. Indiana St., Syracuse, reported to authorities that she was sleeping in her car in the early morning hours of October 2 when someone took the keys from her vehicle.

Ku.[L SHOES AND MORE — Annie and Richard Bender, shown here, took over ownership of the Milford Shoe and Clothing Store on October 1. Their first full day of operation was Monday, although an opening is planned for this week end. Since 1968 the Benders have resided in Milford where they have taught school, Annie as a elementary substitute and Richard in his current position at Milford Junior High School. The Benders have three daughters: Jennifer. 13. Julie, 11 and Stephanie, six. When the opportunity arose the couple purchased the store which Mrs. Bender feels has a friendly country atmosphere. They want Milford Shoe and Clothing to continue to project that same enjoyable friendly atmosphere. members of the Sorosis Reading club of Milford spent a thoroughly interesting evening at the Bristol Museum in Bristol. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Mock spent the weekend with their daughter and family. Mr. and Mrs. Rick Monteith and children of Fort Wayne. On Sunday they called on Mrs. Mock’s aunt. Mrs. Martha Bozer of New Haven. She recently underwent eye surgery. Ryan and Rhonda Montieth returned to Milford with their grandparents to spend a few days. Several from this area attended the Mennonite relief sale held Saturday at the Goshen fairgrounds. 20 YEARS AGO. OCT. 3.1963 Jean Warstler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Warstler of near Milford is one of three candidates selected by the senior class of Manchester college for Homecoming queen. The three candidates were asked to appear before the student body on Sept. 27 at which time one girl will be selected homecoming queen. Mr. and Mrs. Merril Rink and son Dale of Milford were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rink of Nappanee. The students of the Milford schools will be in charge of the program at the first ParentTeachers’ Organization meeting of the school year at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday. Oct. 8. Door prizes will be given. The Milford seniors are planning a car wash Saturday. Oct. 5. It will be held at Berkeypile’s station between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The industrious seniors are planning to do a splendid job of cleansing each car.
30 YEARS AGO. OCT. 1. 1953 Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Felkner, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Felkner and daughter. Joan Kay, and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Bates attend 40 and 8 picnic held Sunday at the Warsaw Fairgrounds. A bridal shower was given last evening by Mrs. Ray Bray and her daughter, Betty, for Miss Evelyn Geiger who will be married Oct. 23. A social hour of games and contests was enjoyed, after which small cakes, nuts and jello were served. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Crafton at dinner on Thursday were Mrs. Neva Ruch, Sue Sponseller, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Reed of Knox and Mrs. Harley Lozier of Etna Green. The Milford High School baseball team defeated the Leesburg school team at a game played at the Leesburg schoolground Friday evening. The score was 9 to 5 in what was the last game of the season. 50 YEARS AGO, OCT. 5.1933 C.R. Brittsan is driving a new Buick sedan. Mrs. Raymond Poynter has been substituting at the Milford High School. A division of the Methodist Ladies' Aid Society held a tea and pastry sale at the home of Mrs. Harry Phend, Friday afternoon which was well patronized. The Milford Rube Band was at the fair at Warsaw Friday night and pepped things up a little along with the Legion band from Warsaw. Ezra Kaiser had a number of crates of potatoes, that looked very nice, and was selling them for $1 a bushel in Milford on Tuesday. Miss Elizabeth Stuckman was a Lansing, Michigan, visitor on Monday.
