Farm Bureau announces opening of new service
Kosciusko Farm Bureau Coop manager George Green has announced the schedule for the week-long grand opening celebration of the Co-op’s new drive-thru service, The Country Lane Store. The festivities will begin Tuesday, Sept. 6, and continue throughout the week. Green said that while the drive-thru concept is certainly not a new one, it is definitely new to the farm and home co-op business. “Our drive-thru service is the first of its kind in Northern Indiana,’’ Green added. “Several of us took a tour of a similiar facility in Ohio — liked the concept and decided it would be very popular here in Kosciusko County." Green said that he feels they have taken the basic idea used in the Ohio facility and have expanded upon it. Customers shopping at the Kosciusko County Farm Bureau Co-op will find the same services and merchandise available at the drive-thru store that they enjoyed at the familiar walk-in Co-op. Shoppers will drive in, place an order, and have it loaded in their car — all without leaving their car. Green feels this will be an added bonus during the cold and snowy months of winter. Tuesday of the grand opening week will be “Gasahol Day” and the Co-op will offer reduced prices on gasahol to anyone driving through the new store. Wednesday, the Farm Bureau Co-op will be giving free refreshments and snacks to the persons driving through. “Dog Dip Day” will be held on Thurs-
Manchester College offers new course
The Manchester College art department recently announced the addition of a new sculpture course designed for the convenience of people from outside the usual campus community. Two sculpture class sessions will be offered Mondays, from 6 to 9 p.m., and Saturdays, from 1 to 3 p.m., beginning September 3. The course may be audited by persons who do not want college credit. Three semester hours are offered to regularly enrolled students. For full credit, either one of the two sessions must be attended. Students may also elect to attend sessions Monday nights sometimes, and on Saturday mornings at other times, to aid in schedule flexibility. Students may opt to attend both sessions if they have a desire for more supervised working time. Class time is also flexible for individual schedules. The sculpture course will be taught by Alison Adams, who has been appointed “Artist-in Residence” for the 1983-84 Manchester College year. A distinct advantage to the student is the fact that Adams, in addition to teaching the sculpture course, will be working on her own projects at her studion in the department. This arrangement will provide an opportunity for students to observe a sculptor at work and to become acquainted with a greater number of techniques and media than would be possible in a one-term sculpture class.
